backordering expired domains?~! - GoFuckYourself.com

Heya~

Quick question-

There is a domain name I want that is listed as avail on the domain registrar powerpipe.com

When I click to register I get this message "PowerPipe.com relies on information from Network Solutions to determine name availability. In some cases, this information is inaccurate or has not yet updated" and it then states that the domain is not avail- when I did a whois I discovered that the domain has expired as of feb 24, 2004. Then, I went to godaddy and was give the option to backorder.

Can anyone explain what this means? If I choose to backorder will the original owner be given a final chance to re-register, or will it be mine?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, it is the first time I have encountered this situation

Even though the domain has expired it doesn't mean that is becomes automatically available.Some registers offer a backorder service and they will try to get the name for you when it does become available.However they cannot guarantee they will be successful as someone else may be chasing it as well.good luck with it.
