Its probably the worst drug you can do, period, when it comes to permanent side effects. I'm not just listening to propaganda either - I've seen the results first hand. Its bad for ANYONE, but worse for those that are already depressed, and I've seen my friends turn into fucking zombies.

Ever heard the phrase e-tard? If not, go to a rave and you're bound to see them in droves. Its really sad, and pathetic, to see how harmful this drug can be.

That being said - trying it once isn't going to cause permanent brain damage, and most people that have their heart set on doing it aren't gonna be persuaded out of it. But its extremely addicting, if addiction runs in your family chances are you'll get hooked fast

Anyway. Those are my thoughts on the drug. Take it as advice from someone that's been there.

can't knock it till you've tried it... like any drug, moderation is the key. Ecstacy won't cause any bad effects unless you do alot of it... it's chemically similar to meth/ephedrine.

It just gets really bad press (like most drugs)... out of the millions of users in the US and Canada, 1 person doesnt drink enough water and dances until their body shuts down and the entire scene gets a bad name.

The drug is very dangerous, no matter how you twist it. It's classified as a drug for a good reason. The long lasting effects have not been 100% solid but it is a fact that some people get very depressed as a result.

On the other hand, people who do it seem to enjoy the fuck out of themselves which makes it extremely tempting.

MDMA was used to treat depression not so long ago and so far not a single independent test has successfully proven the horrific side effects that you hear in propaganda. There was a test a couple of years ago that said that Ecstasy pretty much fries your brain but recently they came out and said they didn't use MDMA but rather MDA or something of the sort.

I'd stay away from it, if you need to get seriously fucked up, there are many better known alternatives.

Drugs can destroy lives... "can" being the key word. Religion can destroy lives, porn can destroy religious lives and rip families apart, alcohol abuse is a way bigger problem than drug use is, and the list goes on. A person should be able to make their own informed decisions.

Do you have any idea how many white collared coke users there are in North America? Of course they're not going to stand up and say it enriched their lives... it's a controlled substance, not something you want to put the spotlight on. Especially if you're a respected businessman.

You are attempting to water the issue down by giving examples of OTHER things that can "also destroy lives". A catastrophic car wreck can destroy lives too. So what. I thought this thread was about drugs.

This is the typical fallback defense plan of drug supporters:

'Well, this thing and that thing and the other things also fuck you up, therefore drugs aren't that bad. Plus, this other thing is much worse."

It's great if taken no more than ever 2 weeks. I took a few one weekend and was e-tarded for like a month. It completely went away though. There's really no proof of long term brain damage. A big danger is overheating, which is why E and dancing should really just not mix.

Also you really can't trust the dealers. Anyone with a pill press can make pills that look just like the one you had last week.

Amp, my response was to the rumored effets of E. While some people here are convinced there are terrible horrendous effects of it, I have seen otherwise. Check out a little island called Ibiza for proof of this. I haven't touched the stuff since I ws younger but it's good to keep things in perspective. If you don't believe me then see what ABC News recently had to say about it

Drug use is part of human history. Get over it. If you had a choice of people smoking weed and or taking E as opposed to drinking alcohol which would you choose? Which one consistantly kills the most people? Which one causes the most fights/divorces/injuries?

6 pack? No. 1 or 2? Sure. Nothing wrong with having 1 or 2 drinks a day (or however infrequently you may choose). It's perfectly legal, socially accepted, and sold in nearly every store and restaurant everywhere. Can alcohol be abused? Of course. Has it destroyed lives? Of course. Lot's of things can be abused. But again, is this somehow supposed to be justification for illegal drug use? Because you're not convincing me. Are you going to go on to point out every thing you can think of which could possibly have a negative effect on someone's life in the vain attempt to make drug use somehow seem like a good thing?

Explain to me why drug supporters always do this?

Is it perhaps because you can't possibly find one crackhead in a million that can provide proof that his life is now better because he's a crackhead? Or is it simply the conditioned response?

How ridiculous would it sound if I tried to do what you are doing, only in the reverse. Instead of citing everything else I can think of that may have a negative impact, I'll start naming things that have a positive impact, in the defense of drug use:

"Tylenol helps lots of people with headaches and other pains. Tylenol is a drug. Therefore illegal drug use is a good thing. (nevermind that Tylenol is a legal drug. That doesn't fit into my example so just ignore it)"

Sounds pretty damn dumb doesn't it.

Arguing for anything added to your body other than air, glucose and water is a losing proposistion. It's even impossible to completely argue that certain amounts of Vitamin C is good for you without having an opposing opinion based on some obscure German study. So, I certainly can't do it.

What I can do is point out the hypocrisy of people who indulge in certain vices to poo poo those who enjoy other vices without accepting the facts. Not the hearsay facts but the actual facts.

And this is why you do not see me trying to make some point that 'alcohol is a good thing'. It's not. Neither is smoking or over use of caffeine. Nor many other things. You will find no hypocrisy in me. Just because I may use alcohol or tobacco doesn't make it right or good. And I will never base my debate on the subject on trying to convince someone that it is. Nor will I attempt to diminish the effects of using such substances by pointing out that things like heroin can have a much worse effect.

Face the facts and stop trying to justify it. That's all I've been saying here. (not necessarily specifically to you of course)
