computer experts i need help with cable modem installation, help

im trying to install it onto another pc running hahahahahahas98 se. I run the installation cd but the driver dosen't get loaded for some reason. Everytime i go to
>control panel >system> device manager it shows the modem with a question mark

thenk i click properties on the modem and it says driver has not been installed

so then i click update driver and find out exactly where the driver is on the cd and i always get-

hahahahahahas could not locate driver for your device, but its clearly there on the cd its a .vxd file

what the fuck?! can anyone can help me please, thanks

w-i-n-d-o-w-s 98 se dosen't recognize .vxd files? i dunno i had it working before i just formatted the harddrive

update to hahahahahahas xp ;) win98 never took my audio or vga drivers so the screen was always at 640x480 and 16 colors with no sound

Did you go to the modems website and upload the driver from there?.It could have a newer version.

Have you tried a manual install?

Plug and Pray in winblows doesn't always work that well.

Why not take the easiest way out and have it repaired by someone who knows better?
