I was thinking to start one of these amateur picture rating sites. My question is, how can you make it grow from scratch. You need many people sumitting their pics. where would you get them right away when your site is very new and nobody knows about it?

Go to CollegeSucks.com and exchange links. People who post their photos usually post themselves all over the internet. Most of the post you will get is of naked guys with boner.ISeekGirls.com since 2005Comment

I suggest you make internal messeging. So people can talk to each other. This will make them stay on the site. Submit to search engines .. and make banner/link exchange with similar sites,
Join all tops with similar sites, post on forums, make a little spam .. and you are done

most of them start with pics taken from other sites (not the best thing) or even with content purchased. Is it gonna be an adult oriented or something more general, closer to hotornot.com?Comment
