    Punish Murders and Attempted Murders equally?

    I've always wondered, why aren't murderers and attempted murderers punished in the same way? Why should the attempted murderer get a lighter sentence simply because the victim didn't die? If anything, the attempted murderer might try again to finish the job.

                      they should get the exact same punishment. if your motive was to kill someone and you tried but failed, you're still a murderer. just not a very good one.

                          what about other crimes? is there any crime where the punishment should be lighter if the criminal failed?
