Why not aligned left, like books and magazines are? In western countries people read from the left, it is natural that the human focus travels to the left at first. |

It is because so many people use different resolutions. So it is best to have the site centered so it changes size to fit your resolution. For example, if a site is left aligned and you have your resolution set high, there will be a ton of empty space on the right. Lots of sites were this way before until they caught on.
