It's very easy to act self-righteous about the Darren James et al HIV situation (and no one knows more about being self-righteous than I,) but those of you who buy content can always just insist that your hardcore videos all promote safe sex. Sure, it won't be "gonzo" as we now know it, but gonzo is as gonzo does.

I've always been a safe sex advocate, even if the talent were in a relationship, it's about the message we're sending as much as it is keeping the performers safe.

If people see more condoms in porn, they might actually start using condoms and we might some day see the end of such horrible situtations both inside and outside of the industry (Okay, that's pushing it, but still, it can't hurt to play safe).

There haven't been strict enough regulations by AIM about it . Anybody going to shoot in certain parts of the world that are more at risk (under developed countries ...) should be quarantined for 60 days.

Good idea, they want to go to countries with poor reputations they need to suffer the consequences.

Sorry but there's this thing called assumed risk. If you fuck people without condoms who only get tested once a week or every 2-3 weeks it's your own fault if you get hiv.

nothing short of putting talent in a dormitory and watching everything they do 24/7 would make porn 100% safe. you can test every other day and you could still have this happen. though testing more frequently would cut down on the number of people affected but it's not going to happen.

you can read about all these big studios shutting down for two months - guarantee you that some of these studios who've said they are going to shut down will be shooting before the two month moratorium is up. Sero-conversion can actually take as little as 4-6 weeks.
But I'm finding it interesting that it appears the adult industry is relying on your typical Western Blot test for HIV results.

Why not just run a viral load? You could get your results the same day.

Okay, let's start from the top...

Fish-> Fisherman dead etc... I didn't know that was an issue. If it is, the fishermen should bring it to the attention of middle-class liberals like myself and maybe we can do something about. I mean, we all switched to dolphin-safe tuna, so human-safe tuna isn't much of a stretch.

I must say I agree with charly's post....

AND, also - It's a fact that porn with condoms sell worse that the "real thing". I know for myself that if I was supposed to watch porn just for the pleasure of it, a condom on the dick would just not do it for me, I would watch another movie instead where I got the real deal. And I'm a WOMAN, I can only imagine how many men who agree on that. It's just not the "natural thing"...
