Yeah the american date system is pretty annoying. I guess it's stupid that there are 2 different systems, thats why changing between them is stupid because almost half of the time you can be wrong and it makes sense to read it both ways. Atleast with measurements there is a unit so it isn't possible to make misinterpret like the date.

You are actually correct.

The US military uses the day/month/year method strictly, as well as the govt. Why the rest of the country does not is beyond me.(11/9/01)

If you think about it , it actually makes sense, it's a progressive mothod rather than a more random one.
