I'm not scared of terrorists.

Seriously, I'm not scared of terrorists. And I dont mean that in a cocky 'brave in the face of danger' kindof way. I mean, I don't ever worry about terrorism at all. Not one tiny bit. And to be honest, I've found the last 2 years of nonstop hysteria .. bizarre. It just seems so oversold ... especially when you're far more likely to be killed by someone in your own family, or one of your closest friends, than some islamic bogeyman.

Anyone else feel this way?

I tend to worry more about the reaction to terrorism than terrorism itself.

I was living in Phoenix, AZ until last year. (approx 4 mil people) Now I'm in Oregon. It is woody here, but not in the middle of nowhere. I'm a few min away from UofO. Universities could be a target, right?

But I think I'm just realistic. Your odds of being killed by Al Queda are so remote to be not worth worrying about. If you're scared of those odds, then how do you leave your home everyday? 10x more people are killed by the flu. 10x more people are killed in car accidents. If you're not scared of driving, and not scared catching germs from the lady at the checkout isle, then why would you be scared of terrorists?

This nationwide obsession is just a rediculous overreaction ... not the grief over those that died ... but the irrational levels of pervassive fear; at least according to the TV news; who of course are just trying to get ratings, but the view they present seems to be supported by forum postings.

I feel the same, dude.
You have much more chances to die in a car accident or by smoke related illness than by a terrorist attack and I don't see people worried because of this.

I dont worry about an attack at all. I have several other things to keep me occupied, no time for worrying about terrorism.

There are worst things that can happen to you than a terrorist attack. Anyway, if you count the odds, what are the chances you being involved in a terrorist attack than you being in an overloaded subway?

Totally agree. There is always another side of the story... why are they "terrorists"? Some actions by these "terrorists" are no different to what "we" do - it's just that there is a different spin delivered up for whatever reasons.

You may sweat a bit if you have an AK47 up your ass, but that too, will pass :-)

For some reason the US acts like it just "discovered" terrorism. Anyone who acts "not appropriately" or to the liking of the establishment or says "wrong things" is a terrorist.

I've felt the blast/heat of a "terrorist" bomb, but hold no grudge against them. When people have "nothing" and don't get fairness, they do whatever to fight their war. Tho I can't say much good comes out of some acts - they do more harm for "the cause" than good and killing loads of civilians ain't a way to get attention, - but that is the desperate stage some find themselves in after years, or often many decades, of "waiting" and "tolerating".

One man's terrorist is the other man's freedom fighter :-)

Peace out!

Really, if you do the math the danger is pretty insignificant. It's all about the 'terror' and from some of the posts in this thread they seem to be getting the effect they're looking for.

Terrorist attacks truly happens. But then, if you dread it, you might get killed of a heart attack than a terrorist attack.

It's all about the 'terror' ...
That's only if you let people give you this fear. The media sure helps and I agree the *actual* chance of encountering this is remote.

"Terrorism" is not new in this world.. it's just getting more publicity, tho 9/11 was an exception.

Until there is a change of "mindset" - this will continue, - you can't "defeat" what's in the mind of people by dropping bombs. That is the "easy option" but not a solution. It is far harder to change the human mind and thinking.
