Imagine if you were sitting behind a patent like that. Acacia is a brilliant company with business strategies beyond the comprehension of most. They allowed everyone to get all fat and happy on the technology they patented, now they are cashing in. They wont be the only ones with overlooked technology patents to come knocking mark my words. In the end it will be simply that "an overlooked patent".

Your comment somewhat attests to its effectiveness. Eventually with more patents becoming unavoidably licensable the expense to create and run websites will become unattainable to the common budget, thus adding an element of control as well clearing obstructive newb websites from being in the way of paying licensee's, much like the structure you see today in many offline businesses. (Wal-Mart would be a prime example)
