Why would you do this to the Golf which comes with the 1.8t motor?

from those limited choices, i'd go with the Honda.

If you like the VW golf.... check out the new mazda 3 hatchback..... way more stylin and if you dont want to spend over 30 thousand on the souped up golf, the 3 whoops it's ass.

for 18 grand you can get a navigation system and all the other goodies, Its a pretty quick car too. I've eaten up a few celicas already.... best car you can get for the money
