I've seen these signs on the highway when driving to Tijuana - only without the prohibido part. They are posted along the highway so you don't nail 'em with your SUV.

Its a real sign. Its all over the place on the Interstate 5 once you pass Camp Pendleton on your way to San Diego and uhhhhh...the border. There used to be shitloads more, but I think a bunch of kids cut them down and stole them.

Yeah, anyone in SoCal, has seen those signs along the 5 for a loooong time. The Oceanside/Pendelton area was a long favorite for wetback freeway crossers - it's near the last border check. There's also a huge fence barrier on the freeway divider to discourage such crossings.

Those are all over down here, I live about 30 miles from the border. Most that cross the borders illegally end up trudging through miles of hills and end up along the sides of the freeways. Many have been killed attempting to cross.
