I agree.......we need to go back to pics from an earlier, happier time...

... when there were hundreds of thousands being slaughtered, and their bodies dumped in mass graves, or when Saddam was deliberately gassing to death Kurdish women and children......oh! Wait! They didn't allow photographers back then.

Ah well! As long as we didn't see pictures of it, then we didn't have to worry about it, right?

A few months ago you were the one running around saying Iraq had WMD. Now it's down to "mass graves".

China should invade the US because Haliburton steals... <-- That makes as much sense as US invading Iraq.

No matter what Bush bullshit you're going to spew... Invading Iraq was/is not right. Never will be. I hope they fry Bush on war-crimes. Doubtful.

Goddamn. This war is so pussy compared to WW1 or WW2.

Go read up about the Battle of Verdun.

http://www.war1418.com/battleverdun/

If there was only modern media back then, there would be footage of people fighting hip-deep in corpses.

Those were sad pictures and unfortunately .. the whole world has alot of sadness in it. If we had pictures for all the different wars going on in other countries we would surely say god damn this world and its people need to wake up and stop the violence.
The war in iraq was needed I suppose but at the same time.. its sad to see all of the innocents who are hurt in the process.

4 million people massacred in 5 years in Congo. They cried and begged for help and are still doing so. Who cared?

Ethnic cleansing is going on in Sudan. Thousands die each week. You care?

Nah, there's always be countries willing to wage war and invade others for the sake of power and money and whatever else. That's how it's always been.

look at these pictures.

bush sent people off to iraq to die.

he avoided his own national service. his personal 'military' record is a disgrace and so is he.

what about 'osama bin forgotten'?

It has nothing to do with skin color. What does Africa contribute to society on Earth? The answer to that is the reason why nobody cares.

EXACTLY MY POINT!

(luckily we have the UN to deal with that stuff, like they did with Cosovo........darn, wait, we had to go in there without the UN that time too,.......Anyway, as long as we don't have to see pictures of it, it doesn't REALLY exist)

They should show pictures like that before people are recruited into military.

Many probably signed up to miliary on good intentions that they were doing something good. Unfortunately, they are being used for self serving George Bush who has ambitions that are about as irrational as communism.

And, many probably didn't think they would be scraping up blood, brains, guts of their buddies and Iraqis.

War is expensive and messy!

Great photography. War is NOT something that should be swept under the carpet and forgotten, it's good to see and deal with the reality of war nomatter how tragic.

Though war is an armchair sport for many in their comfortable homes.. in truth, it's not a game for those who experience it firsthand.

I you think these are sad - you ain't seen nothing yet.

I sat with a war photographer a few weeks back who has been doing this long before Vietnam.

He was running thru many thousands of pictures shot both in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This lot was the most disgusting/horrific images I've ever seen in my life. How any asshole can tell a pack of lies and send people to war - I just don't know.

Some were actually "nice" pics, but the impact was the real truth images of what is actually happening.

It is ironical that there is a count of US soldiers dead, but nothing of the many more killed in this "war" - not even one of Rumsfeld's "rough guesses".

One day we will see some of these images published and see the truth. This guy is well-known for his war photography and been published in almost every country - but knows, based on the Vietnam times, no magazine will touch this material at this time.

I learn't a lot seeing this material... and will be interesting to see more - he is back in the midst of the "war" at the moment digging out what he hopes will capture some truth.

Nothing can justify this shit - no country is "entitled" to kill others unless they are attacked.

They never publicize how many Iraqi's have been killed, nor will they ever. That's bad press for the White House boys.

They never publicize how many Iraqi's have been killed, nor will they ever. That's bad press for the White House boys.
Of course!

Dunno how long it will take to see some of his pics published. It took two years after the end of Vietnam when... think it was Time mag that first published some - including the image of a young girl running naked down a street with napam on her back?

The good side is that "kid" is still alive and living in LA these days :-)

But gotta say... the "impact" of war on people is... astounding.

We had a family friend years ago that fought in Vietnam and got captured and was a POW. He said the North Vietnamese to fuck with the American prisoners would tie their hands behind their back and then put a burlap bag over their heads and tie it tight around their neck. Then they would untie the top of the bag and throw in huge rats and retie it. So the soldiers would start running around and going nutzo while the rats would be biting their faces inside the bag.

They also would break bottles and make the guys sit naked on the broken bottle.

They'd break guys bones with steel rods and then not give them any medical attention.

Really fucked up stories. He turned into a bit of a whacko from being in captivity and tortured so harshly. Haven't seen him in years and I think he eventually stuck a gun to his head and committed suicide.
