Actually all of those religions have long drawn out formal processes when it comes to changing or modifying anything.

Relgions haven't changed much over the years - the people who interpret them and follow them have.

Try asking your "chistrian" friend what their favorite book of the bible is, or their favorite line is. You'll be surprised what their response would be. I tried it the other day, the guy choked, didn't know what to tell me... and basically got a "err, hmm, they are all good" response from him....
