setting up EU company

Have any of you setup company in EU? I'm wondering if Europe has something like US does with Delaware or Nevada which have no state taxes.

How do taxes in EU compare to US?

You should probably look at either Cypress, or the Island of Jersey to avoid tax liability exposure. Taxes in the EU can be MUCH MUCH higher than in the US

I have setup a couple of companies in Sweden and looked at other countries regulations.
The EU is pretty anti the offshore type of companies and tax havens like Gibraltar and the Channel Islands are not really part of the EU common market (they don't work for VAT registration).
For non adult biz, Irland is probably best.
For adult Spain is the best in regards of taxes, but I think Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden are safest. Unfortunatly they all have high taxes.

Have heard something about some low tax incorporation on the Portuguese island of Madeira, but not sure what it is.

Yes. The EU has several jurisdictions where it would be advantageous re tax.

There are .. as somone mentioned, the Channel Isles, Isle of Man etc..

Probably one of the best at the moment is Gibraltar. Non resident companies pay no tax. Also the Gibraltar government is willing to provide a 25 year tax exception, which basically means, even with pressure from others, they are obliged to honor this agreement.

Gibraltar also has a very strong opposition to pressure from other high tax regimes to "conform". They have their own agenda and have spent loads setting it up and are not interested in having "outsiders" mess with their plans.

According to my latest information, Slovakia is the E.U. member country with lowest taxes. They have a flat tax system so it's supposed to be pretty easy also.

Nevertheless, their infrastructure, legal systems, politics etc. might be below E.U. average. But that's the case with all low tax countries.

Forget about Cyprus, Gibraltar etc. They are either not E.U. member or will change their tax system soon.

Slovakia has 19% flat tax rate (both income and VAT) but I don't think it's lowest. Considering the fact online business awareness within state(=tax) officers is extremely low it would be a kind of pioneering setuping companies here but as a test I'd give it a try.

Change has already taken place for new companies. Tax rate from 2-3% went to 10%

Seems most of you here don't know shit about EU tax.

Lowest corporate tax : Ireland > 12.5 % flat.

Go live there > income tax is between 31 - 38 % effective.

Software developers can get a 2.5 % discount, paying only 10 %

BTW, Ireland is the only country where you can become a EU citizen while having a criminal record. Not bad for a lot of guys here.

Now find a better country than that !

how hard is it to setup a company in Ireland???
I've seen sites doing setups for ltd.'s in London for ?500, so far I've heard that's the best solution.

Don't be a cheap ass please !

Choose Price Waterhouse or an other Pro Accounting Agency.

Let them maintain EVERYTING, you will earn it back X times later.

Only thing you do is sales, marketing and customer relations.

Ireland and Switzerland are great if you don't mind the weather.

Otherwise come over here or Costa Rica if you like climate & nature.

OMG!

Stay away from Gibraltar, especially with adult stuff.

Do your homework seriously.

The Channel Islands are really the worst place to have this kind of biz. Do research by examining the websites of OECD, and ask professionals from respected International Accountancy Companies.

Visit sites like http://www.escapeartist.com to learn the basics.

You're talking about actually living there... but I'm talking just setting up a company there.
