FCC banning movies and so on...
Alright, I was in a discussion with someone who stated that the FCC would be "going to movie stores, giving them a list of movies containing sex/drug use/violence and forcing them to give them up to be destroyed".
Alright, now I'm about 99.9% sure that this is a load of shit. The effects that this would have on the film industry and freedom in general would be monumental. And I have heard absolutely nothing about it from any real new source, and can't find anything about it on the web. Yet they persist that this is true. Either I'm living under an incredibly thick rock, or I need to hang out with smarter people. Is there even the slightest thruth to this claim? The whole thing reaks of bad chain email to me. |

the FCC deals with the airwaves, not video, dvd's, etc. Tell the person you were discussing this with to stop smoking crack...

yes, sounds completely untrue.
In Britain in 1984 they passed the Video Nasty law, which banned movies like "Driller Killer", "Texas ChainSaw Massacre", "I spit on your grave", "Hills Have Eyes" etc. seems almost crazy 20 years on. |
