How can you guys complain about spams so much, when your peddling porn?

Sure alot of surfers like porn, but alot do not...Lets face it, almost all of us are doing this because of the money...Alot of us peddle tranny sites, gay sites, sites where girls are humilated, spit on, cummed on, whatever...that is okay by us because it brings the almighty dollar...

But then when someone spams, you all get on his ass like white on rice. Why the hypocricy? WThe spammer is trying to make money, just like you. And just like you, he has traded in his morals in exchange for the green buck. So why the double standard?

There's a difference between consenting adults performing sexual acts and receiving UNSOLICITED porn visuals in your inbox.

What double standard? How do you compare the two?

Which part of UNSOLICITED are you confused about?

Your comparisson blows, professional hitmen are trying to make money also just like you, so we should make it legal?

What about all the popups and auto bookmarks that every adult program employs? You think popups are not UNSOLICITED? You think surfers want to be hit with 3 popups per second? Yet most webmasters employ these tactics to make extra money...so whats the difference?

not all mailers mail porn, some simply mail mortgage, hgh, and printer ink. The only reason people do mail is for money, if spamming didnt work people wouldnt do it. What people dont seem to know is that not all spammers use these "dirty tricks" such as flooding inboxes with the same ad 5 times a day or not processing remove requests. People who do these things usually make very little money since they are just pissing off the consumer. But at the same time one could say that all people who work in the adult industry also promote child porn, just because a few people decide to give an industry a bad name doesnt mean everyhahahaha does the same thing. I honestly belive that antis dont want spam to die since spammers arent the only ones who make money off spam, antispam products generated just over $1 billion in revnue in 03, and now spamhaus wants a .mail which will cost somewhere around $2000 a year. Not to mention if spam did die off 3/4 of the people in nanae would be bored 18 hours of the day.

If you actually want to cut down on the ammount of spam you recieve i suggest changing your email address to something unique. For example if you currently have the email [email protected] change it to [email protected]. Also dont include that email in your whois information and dont use it when ordering online and only give it out to those who need to contact you. Other than that there is really nothing that can be done except for installing something like spamassasin on your mail server.

The only spam I complain about is when the fucken programs sell our affiliate email addresses. And maybe it is a double standard, but yes, I expect them not to do it. If you want webmasters to push your program, and you spend time and money advertising to them, then one would think you'd have enough damn sense not to sell our addresses. Especially since we're not as dumb as the average porn surfer about stuff like that and many times we can trace it back to who's doing it.

most people now consider popups and banners to be "spam". Spam can really be anything that you did not wish to recieve. Such as an aol cd, an ad in the magizine or newspaper, or a commercial on tv or on the radio. Spam is everywhere people just dont relize it yet. I would have thought email spam would be the one people woul complain about the least. All you have to do is read the subject and decide if you want to open it or delete it. Unlike tv you dont have to sit there and wait 2 minutes so you can continue watching your favorite tv show or sporting event.

Bullshit, spamming is illegal, and every spammer that fills my inbox has just stolen my addy somewhere or bought/traded a stolen list. I don't really care if they're calling themselfes mailers or whatever, they just don't care enough about the quality of their lists, and therefor they harm my and our business just to make some quick coin.

When I work in adult I didn't trade my morales for anything, I don't promote anything illegal, I don't promote anything that is questionable for me, and I even don't (knowingly) promote any programs that try to rip of the costumer with dialers, auto bookmarks, toolbar shit, crosssales, shitty members areas, etc. etc. So I think all surfers that ever joined a site through my ref codes got a good product for their money, and I'm happy with their rebills.

spamming is illegel depending the way you do it. If you buy a direct mailing server with rotating ips, use valid from domains, process remove requests and include valid contact information in your email ad and in the whois information then its not illegel and is allowed by the can spam law. Like i said above if you really do hate getting spam then just get a new email address and only give that to people who need to contact you and dont use it on whois information or when buying stuff online. These days everyhahahaha is spamming and it will never really end. Even if you were able to stop all the spammers whats stopping a company like microsoft from spamming you. The FTC or FBI wont go and arrest bill gates and you wouldnt be able to shut their servers down without a whole shitload of people complaining about it. This is the only reason why you see yahoo, microsoft, earthlink, aol fighing spam. They do it so they can control the entired industry and gain more revenue. They dont give a fuck if people's email boxes were flooded with spam every minute 24/7

I have to agree, there are so many double standards, I think the problem is that to many webmasters are not really making money and do it becuase they like porn, so are infact really just surfers

Soooo even tho its not legal to harvest email addys from ANYwhere... we are supposed to take measures on a legally required doc u ment to protect ourSELVES? All because some spammer is simply trying to make a buck? BS.

Why do I see this as, a driver on the freeway should always be ready to swerve if some clown decides to jaywalk across 60 mph traffic? Try it and they'll scrape your b*tt off the bottom of my van.

I just finished zipping up well over 28,000 emails that didn't even come near the new law, most of them originated inside the US. They were forwarded to the Federal as well as our State officials that are going to be stomping the clowns.

I hope they grind every one in that mass of email into the ground, take your property and help your wife divorce you as well as get anything that they didn't think valuable enough to seize.

Popups etc? Again, the surfer CHOSE to go to a site. Its nothing like spam. My step daughter has an email addy here that she uses to 'mark' things she thinks are cute (she mails us the links to one of our emails to make sure we see them) It was on one of our mainstream domains, not some freemail place.

Now she doesn't have a clue as to the pw of that email addy. She has NEVER signed up ANYwhere with it, nor mailed anyone but her Dad or I.

I clean porn spam out of it weekly as well as tons of others. Want to tell me spammers with traps set on servers to grab addys are 'ok'.

Idiots.

well its just a suggestion on cutting back on the ammount of spam you get but not everyone mails porn, everyhahahaha seems to label all mailers as law breaking, porn mailing mailers and its simply not true but most are. Im just trying to say that there are legit optin mailers out there who dont break the laws like everyhahahaha here seems to think.

What about those of us who run a business online and need our email to be available to any and everyone who might wish to contact us? Should we make our potential customers jump through hoops just so we can avoid spam? I've gone so far as to unlink my email (inconvenient for my clients) or use the hahahahahahahahahaha "trick" to "hide" my email from 'bots. I use MailWasher and still I get hundreds of spam emails a day. Yeah, I "just delete them", but my time is valuable to me.

I don't currently own a home; I don't need to refinance. I don't currently own a penis; I don't need to enlarge one. I am not overweight and in need of Phentermine. I'm perfectly happy with my auto insurance policy, I don't believe that the right sunglasses or a $160 "Rolex" will make me cool. I am not even remotely in the target audience for a good 95% or more of the spam I receive. The spammers are wasting their time and mine. In addition, they are making it virtually impossible for legitimate email campaigns to be as succesful as they should. (See all kinds of legislation, pending or otherwise, for example.)

I 'ate spam!

what you should do is have an image with your email on it instead of posting a clickable link on your website. It may take a customer/client a few more seconds to type in your email but if they are serious about doing buisness with you then they wouldnt mind doing it. As far as the email in the whois information goes i would just use a different email account for that. I highly doubt anyone would try to contact you based on what your whois information says if you had an email on the index of your website.

Searching... you would NOT like catching me alive... trust me. But then again rabble travels in packs eh?

You spammers are soooo easy to bait and even easier to pin down and catch. I just added some names that must be spammers with a simple reply to a thread. What total idiots. IF you were a serious business person, you would have kept your fat yap shut.

Oh and the 28k+... a three month stockup from an addy that I have to have out but never actually use or GIVE out per se. So it WAS harvested and I hope you had some spams in the mix 'searching'. You're gonna lose your 21 spd bike now!

You know what fuckwit? It's 4 am where I live. This is my down time, which I choose to use as I please. In another half hour or so I'll go to sleep. In a few more hours, I'll get up and start another, long work day. The first hour or so will be spent dealing with email - mostly junk. That's my work time, I'm on the clock. I resent the intrusion.

Yes, I am wasting my time right now. It's my choice. I'll spend perhaps fifteen more minutes with you before I put you on permanent ignore. For now, it's worth my time to call you out as a worthless waste of bandwidth. Because even hard-working webmasters need a little entertainment.

I've been following this thread and decided to put my in

First of all.. I gotta wonder why the anger is so extreme about spam? Sure, it's annoying.. but it's not annoying enough to fuel the kind of anger I see here.

So my conclusion here is.. those who don't spam are envious of those who do and make money at it..

that's exactly it
the white rage antis seem more pissed because they feel a spammer is taking THEIR sale away...it's all about their own $$$, nothing to do with ethics, morality, etc.

the only reason MSN, AOL, etc. are going so apeshit against spam is that it detracts from THEIR ads.

Gemini, seriously, do you realize that in the time you took to zip 28 THOUSAND emails, you could have been making more money foir yourself?

the majority of spam I get is not porn.. instead its pharma shit for drugs and viagara!! next in line is debt and getting a loan.

I didnt sign up for anything like this.. but they go through and collect email addresses from porn companies and spam the shit out of them... hate pharma shit..

God, that was..... beautifully put.

I don't have a problem with "mailers" that use legit opt-in lists... "legit" being the key word there. If they offer a working "remove" link, I have no problem with them at all.

It is the flagrant spammers that do NOT operate from such lists that I have a problem with. I pray that those types be caught and punsished severely, and made to share a cell with bubba, the big sweaty gronk in for murder who likes to bend over spammers and give them what they deserve... repeatedly.

If you're a spammer, know two things:

Your days are numbered,

and you are an asshole-dwelling tick.

Just keep it opt-in with a working removal link and I have no beef with you.

How hard is it to play by the fucking rules for fuck sakes?

Most of the complaints here are about the truly asshole spammers who DON'T play by the rules, they feel they are above the rules, they couldn't care less about your rules (or your kids, or the law).

A hundred jillion spams a day clogs the internet and bogs it down.
Kids get adult spam in their inboxes
Legit business people get their inboxes clogged with unsolicited spam daily
Spam filtering costs time and money
Sifting through the spam that gets through your spam filter takes time and costs money

Shit if you can't see where someone might wish that a few spammers curl up and die, then someone has a problem seeing things the way they are. This is my point of view on spam. If you're that type of spammer I described above and don't like my opinion, well..... fuck you. It's really your tough shit. The fucking law is on MY side, not yours.

No Sykk... docs orders NO work for 2 more weeks so I was zipping up the 3 mos worth of garbage non-compliant spam.

I could give a flying rinky dink how much someone makes from it. Life is NOT all about money. You'll come to that conclusion once you reach a certain age too. BTW, had PLENTY of it and I divorced it. It just isn't the most important thing to me.

For some, thats definately true. I think for others they just get caught up in the anti-spam hoopla and it now gives their lives some meaning, but who knows...

Does that mean you won't mind if I forward all 1800+ spams per day that I get to you mailbox?

You tell 'em Mishi! People like this obviously don't get a large amount of spam. If they did, their tune would be different. I honestly don't mind a little spam, but out of the 500 e-mails I got within the last 2 hours, over 300 of them were from my "best buddy setting me up on a blind date". When you get over 1800 per day, it gets excessive.

It also makes it hard to do business. I either have to wade through 1800 emails to find legit e-mails or I have to set up filters to delete them and hope that something important didn't get deleted as well.

I don't receive spam anymore thanks to spamarrest

Most of the spam was from the sponsor themselves....lol

You would think that they would be able to delineate between an affiliate of their program and a cancelled member or someone that opted in.
