Anyhahahaha remember the "Billy Jack" movies?

I just got the DVD set of all four movies. Lotsa fun. Best part is the director's commentary. It's freakin' spooky how things they put in those movies 30 years ago came true regarding environment and government fraud and such.

It's also fun to look at the actors who had bit parts then who became famous later.

More like an education than just action/social commentary. Well worth the money!

It also gave birth to one of the finest Mad magazine parodies, Billy Jock...

...and it revived the song "One Tin Soldier" for the 70's (it was not written for the film, as many thought at the time.)

"... PEACE ON EARTH WAS ALL IT SAID!"

Billy Jack, one of the first karate men on tv, those movies were great. He'd start taking those boots off and you just knew he was getting ready to footslap a couple dozen assholes.

I always said "It's lucky for his enemies that Billy Jack didn't have a foot odor problem".

Walking Tall remake isn't a remake of the original Walking Tall.
Although it's called the same there is no relation to the original
Walking Tall other than the title, and the character is a sheriff
and swings a big stick. The Rock's character is named Chris Vaughn.
They had to change too many things cause no one is going to
buy The Rock as Buford Pusser. The don't call them remakes
they call them "inspired by".

The original Walking Tall was a true story about a Tennessee sheriff
Buford Pusser and his life as a stick swinging sheriff.

Ja his site is www.billyjack.com

Laughlin has lots of good points but he's more of a 'Buchanan' or 'McClain' Republican than a 'Bush' Republican.

Gotta say his films were prophetic and he knew how to do stuff cool. He also starred in a kick ass flick where he played a western samurai. Very cool.

He started out left wing and was popular, switched to right wing and is fighting for a comeback. He's actually looking for financing for his next flick. 'Billy Jack' was supposed to be remade starring Keanu Reeves but it probably cost too much.

The country could use a new 'Billy Jack' movie yet it would probably get killed by the Patriot Act or something.

If I remember right I think it was the first time I saw a roundhouse kick.
The scene where he has to go into the sweat tent and trip out was
a bit weird and boring. Also the anorexic babe (Delores Taylor) who
played his g/f was like the worst actor I had every seen.
Delores Taylor "Billy, no...you can't go back to jail"
She actually co-wrote the script to Billy Jack. The two
of them are husband and wife in real life.

The movie also helped make "One Tin Soldier" [by Coven] a bit hit on the charts back then.
Sample: Coven - One tin soldier
Tom Laughlin is dealing with cancer now and apparently it's inoperable.

A box-office success with an attractive plot for modern-day youth. Laughlin stars as a half-breed (half Indian, half white) war hero who fights bigotry and injustice with Karate-trained effectiveness.
Although filming began in Prescott, Arizona, in fall 1969, American International Pictures pulled out of the production, halting filming. Twentieth Century Fox came in and filming eventually resumed, but when that studio refused to distribute the film, Warner Bros. took over. The film was released in the spring of 1971 after more than one year of shooting. It opened in Cincinnati, Ohio, only, on April 19, 1971. The film lacked distribution, so Laughlin took it to theaters himself. He had terrific problems with the studio; at one time the studio had taken the masters with plans to reedit the film without him. Laughlin actually sued Warner Bros. for millions and ended up settling years later for a six-figure payoff. The theme song by Coven, "One Tin Soldier," was a hit on the Billboard charts. The film died at the box office in its initial run but took in more than $40 million in its 1973 re-release, which was supervised by Laughlin. The hat Tom Laughlin wore in the film was actually a Halloween present from his daughter T.C.

Bollywood has run out of new ideas, hence the sudden upsurge of all the second rate 70's Tv shows/movies remakes. Anything for a few Quick Bucks. OOOPs can I say that ? Look at the Starsky and Hutch , and Walking Tall remakes recently, along with all the others, Charlies Angels and Mission Impossible, I am sure I 'm probably missing a few ! I just Long for Arnold Ziffel to hit the Big Screen

BRING BACK ARNOLD ZIFFEL!!

Before there was 'Babe' there was:

ARNOLD the pig ( Green Acres ).

Yes they're doing remakes because you don't have to pay big fees for authorship. The studios bought up the rights cheap when the series' went off the air and would rather re-hash than make new.

Lotsa 'demographicing' being done by machines and suits nowadays.
