I do revshare with programs I trust and know will retain. Prolly 80% of my money comes from revshare sponsors.

Depends. For dating programs like datinggold I use revshare. That sort of thing retains. Also if you have say SE traffic and a site with a good members area the retention might be worth the lower initial payout.

It's a site by site thing. For galleries I almost always opt for per signup.

PPS. Once you have some data you can look it up for each site but almost nothing I have is doing $35 per sign up in the revshare category.

I just posted this on another board:

"... I really think the reason companies do revshare instead of PPS is that they simply can't afford to pay their webmasters per sign up in most cases, or in some cases don't want to take the risk. If their sites retain, it would be stupid not to pay per sign up and keep all the money for themselves.

A simple example:

A revshare program claims their site retains each member an average of 6 months. If they offer a trial, say their trial to month conversion rate is 40%, their trial cost is $4.95, and their monthly cost is $39.95. This means their average member is worth $100.83 gross, and about $85~ net. At 60% revshare, this would mean that the affiliate would make $50 per sale on average. Obviously, this is better for an affiliate. Like Greg said, that is leaving so much money on the table by not offering per sign up.

I really really really doubt that any site retains each converted trial 6 months on average. I think 3 months is much more reasonable (in which case per sign up is better hands down, but let's just assume they will retain 6 months on AVERAGE, which again, is very unlikely)

My opinion is that revshare makes marginally more money than per sign up might, but it takes much longer to receive your money. It makes sense to me to get paid per sign up immediately, take the money, and reinvest it to make more money. Why wait a year to make $40 (maybe) when I can make $30 right away?"

Your best bet is to mix it up a little bit

if your traffic is inconsistent (TGP submissions, etc.) you're better off with recurring to keep payouts spread out a little for those times when you're not gtetting listed, etc.

If your traffic is a bit more stable and steady, you would lean more towards the per signup.

Really, overall, you're going to find you'll make about the same amount per signup as with revshare, it's all a matter of getting paid up front versus over the long haul (whichever you prefer)

Check out their members area. If it rocks, go revshare. That's really the only correct answer to this.
