But you have to remember I was born in 1950, so was a teenager during the Vietnam war and remember the feeling towards Americans during the 60s. In the beginning Americans were spat at, goods were avoided and they lost influence around the world. What turned it was the peace movement in the US, the protest songs, draft dodgers and anti war marches. We saw that this war was not what most of the US wanted.

More than two million people died for paddy fields. They were being sold the lie that it was to stop communism. Well look at what happened when the Us got out, Cambodia sunk into the hell created by the US bombings, only to be rescued by the Vietcong. Thailand remained democratic and the Communist never took over the world.

Now we have Iraq and unless Bush get's out now he will be rembered for the failure.

The Allies wiped out "whole towns" and crushed the Germans and Japanese...so it did not fail...clueless.

FYI the Vietcong were destroyed for all practical purposes during the "Tet" offensive initiated by the VC. It was the NVA that took control of South Vietnam two years after the American forces were withdrawn.
