Why are conversion ratios different depending on the traffic source?
I know that certain types of traffic do better than others. My question is quite logical if you think about it...
If a surfer goes to a signup page after seeing the terms of the program on the tour pages (yes...I'm assuming they've knowingly clicked on the join page), what makes a different type of surfer less likely to buy? Haven't all of the surfers that made it to the join page read the tour page with the price/time span? I've got all types of traffic and I know which traffic converts and which doesn't, but this stumps me to this day. Who's got the answers? ![]() |

If you're asking why they convert differently after going to the join page, then it depends on how they got there. "Newbie" traffic may have clicked on ap icture that was linked to the join page and not wanted to really go there. Wheras more experienced traffic (like TGP surfers) won't usually make that mistake.
There are so many factors in traffic conversion from source to source it's pretty crazy trying to figure it out. When I do ad campaigns for people I always tell them to by tests of as many sources as they can find and be prepared in today's market to throw out 8 out of 10 of them just to get to the 2 that are worth buying in full. Also a source that works great for one site may stink for another and vice versa. There appears to be no rhyme or reason to it, so I definitely hear ya!

choosing the right sponsor is one major factor in traffic conversion. once you get that right, things fall into place.
