Why is Gateway still in business?

After getting their asses handed to them by Dell, why is Gateway still in business? Boxes with shitty cow patterns can only take you so far, Mr. Balding Hippy Dude with a Pony Tail.

I'm no fortune teller but I see Gateway going out of business real soon. Anyone feel different about this?

They are done. Don't buy one if you want a warranty on your pc.

They should have stayed a mid-sized direct distributor with a decent margin. But... the IPO bug bit, and they overextended themselves.

I used to see their ads in Computer Shopper back in 1989

They should have stayed small and kept the name Gateway 2000. LOL. I hope they don't go out of business! Just another part of the American tech sector lost

They exploded into the market at a phenominal rate and I was seriously looking into purchasing a fair share of stock back in the late 90's. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm SO GLAD I STEERED CLEAR OF IT!!!

I have a couple of friends that still own stock and they insure me that Gateway's non-computer ventures (Plasma TV's and other markets where they're going to get thier asses kicked) will pay off.
