Came across this. It's all original, low miles, and in near mint condition. Guy who picked it up was planning on totally restoring it. (Heck if I could see what needed 'restoring')

Figured I would post up pics for any other old Camaro fans out there. :D

The dream car for me would be the same color scheme with the black and white houndstooth interior muncie 4 speed big block rs/ss

the diference being the RS has the hideaways

my first car was a 1968 rs/ss but was not even close to original....the 69 has always been my favorite......

Yep, it had the original 302.

I've heard conflicting information on it. Rated at 290 HP or so back then, but many people claim it was really underated.

I'd love to put this on a dyno, just to see what it put out to the rear wheels.

The 302 was introduced in 1967 as a high performance small block to compete against the mustang in the scca trans am series...the series had a displacement limit of 302 cubes

the motor was designed to be very high revving and is considered to be one of the best performance motors chevrolet ever produced for its racing program......the cubic inches went up to 350 in 1970 ......they say there is no replacement for displacement........the 302 was gone to be replaced by the LT-1 350.

still one of the more rare motors to build and even harder to find

the 302 like may motors of that era was most likely rated at a lower horse power for the insurance companies and to throw the scent off for the other manufacturers

chances are from the factory it ran about 300 to 315 horse...the difference between that and todays three hundred plus horse cars it the torque generated in a car that was so primative by todays standards makes it seem like it pulls ALOT harder

Chevy's 350 was what made them famous. Still the most popular engine out there as far as I've seen. I wish they hadn't stopped making the 302.

302 has a 4" bore, so lotsa HP, but a shorter stroke than a 350, so it would have less torque.

Hard to compare a 69' 302 with a modern chevy LS1/LS6 all aluminum 350. The torque curve on those engines is flat.

From what i've read, very understated in HP too. (people typically dyno more HP at the rear wheels, then what Chevy rates the engines for).

So I guess it's in Chevy's history to produce more power than they claim. : )

Don't get me started! I'd love to drop in a Fuel Injected 400 SBC into my 86 Camaro.

Getting tougher to find the blocks though.
