In other words, what is that number that when you cross it - you're considered to be successful in the industry?
This question probably would have been phrased better if you said "average salary for a full time 9-5 webmaster"

$200k/year for your second year in this business is very aggresive. Of course it would depend on how you did in the first year and what other experience you had in this business.

VideoJ, I'm not there yet, but I was wondering if it is a good goal to have?

The Heron,

Of course, I get a salary. My business is incorporated and I get paid as a CEO. If you're not encorporated in one way or another - you're putting yourself out there with no protection of your assets. And if you own a house or have a fat mutual fund - you may loose it all if some shit happens to you and you are in the red.

What makes you think that as the owner of an incorporated company, you can't lose more than your company assets?

Why ask what the average guy here earns so you can set a target for yourself.

The avergage guy here is either a clown who likes to think he's in the porn business or, if you look at it another way, people like me who have been in porn years as our sole income.

Look at who you are and what you can offer in terms of skills, money and effort. Then remember you are coming into an industry that is crowded with wanabees. Now think about what you can earn.

You must have what the average guy here has, before you can think about earning what he does.

Alex from Montreal,

Incorporating your business protects you from personal liability. It's a fact. If your company goes into red and can't recover - you can file for Chapter 11 Protection instead of selling your house, your cars, giving up all of your savings and investements and then still filing for bankrupcy yourself. See the difference? I strongly recommend any business that makes money to incorporate to protect its officers.

If you earn similar amounts, but work less and in a more comfortable environment, then you are definitely succesfull.

( This is not about me, just an example that you don't have to make $250k yearly to be considered succesfull ).

I'd say most are immediately snatched by Fortune 500 companies, and earn a median of at least $50k+
