Ethics in Adult

I just read an article about a certain adult website which showcased the suicide of a black man that was captured on surveillance video. I also heard rumors claiming the webmaster of said site bragging about having the file on his website on this board.

I can't find the alleged post, and I hope in good taste it was removed by the moderators. I'm still left with the question of why anyone would consider posting such material on thier website? Yes, any publiciity is good publicity, but I draw the line at showcasing the death of a human being as a means of generating traffic.

People call us perverts, criminals, hethans...and my standard response to those who question why I'm in the adult industry is " We're just trying to mak a living in this world, like you...These are good people who are just trying to destroy the taboos in this conservative society and bring pleasure to people..."

I wonder how many people will accept my response after hearing about this? I still believe in this industry and its positive benefits on the society, but I have to wonder about those who violate basic ethics by trivializing life. These are the kind of acts that give credence to arguements made by the conservative majority and put our industry in jeapordy.

If this is indeed true, I hope those of you who know the webmaster can pass this on to the appropriate parties and advise them to think before he acts and puts all of us in an indefensible position that could ruin adult for everyone. Life is the most precious thing on this planet and I think it deserves a little more respect than that.

Well I don't see it. You try to tell someone that something just isn't right and they'll say something like "but it converts"

I'm not saying there is no people in this business with Echics just as a whole I'd say we are at a all time low. Just mho.

I see CJ is an adult site, not a porn site.

Yeah the webmaster posted about it in here and I don't see a problem with him publishing such material on his website because I don't actually visit the site. I have a choice not to see that kind of stuff.

Why would any news channel consider posting videos of dead Iraqis or dead US civilians being burned, etc.? Oh but if an adult website shows disgusting images all of a sudden it becomes another story?

I don't know. The difference is clear to me. News agencies bring you news. CJ doesn't purport to be a news site. Some might make the arguement, "Well, what about rotten.com?" Rotten.Com is a death site, that's it's niche. CJ showcases wacky/adult video...but hey, let's throw some death vids in there to shake things up...I guess that's ok.

Shouldn't we stick to sex and leave DEATH to someone else?

Here's the thing about shocking people:

If that's all you've got, then the well is going to run dry eventually. Think in terms of using foul language - if every other word out of your mouth is 'fuck' 'shit' 'asshole' or 'motherfucker'...eventually, the effect of using that kind of language wears off as people become desensitized. The same applies to violent images and video.

The more we see, the less affected we are by it. Relying on the shock factor rather than the creative element is ultimately self-destructive.

That's just my opinion.
