Nice gesture, but starfish are designed to survive low tide in tidal pools. I'm sure that's what you meant by "evaporated." You see them all the time clinging to rocks during low tide.

I like that you can cut off a starfish's arm and grow a new starfish from it. Shame we can't do that as I've often thought it would be nice to have an army of Me :)

Beautiful pic, that reminds me of a story.

A young woman was walking along a deserted beach at sunset when, in the distance, she noticed an old man who kept leaning down, picking something up and throwing it out on the water. As she moved closer, she saw the old man was picking up a starfish that had been washed up on the beach and, one at a time, he was throwing them back into the water.

The woman was quite puzzled, so she walked up and said, "Good evening. Look, forgive me for intruding, but I was just wondering what you were doing?"

"Oh, I'm throwing starfish back into the water," replied the old man. "You see, it's high tide right now and all of these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back, they'll die up here."

"I understand," she responded, "but there must be thousands of starfish on this beach. You can't get to all of them. There are too many. And don't you realise this is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down the coast. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?"

The old man smiled, bent down and picked up yet another starfish. And as he he threw it back into the sea, he replied,
"Made a difference to that one!" :)
