Anyone into art here?
I have a friend that works for Martin Lawrence Galleries - and they are getting ready to have an auction, so great deals are to be had.
You can get Warhol starting at $6,000, Chagall starting at $1,000, Picasso starting at $1,000, and many, many more for as low as $300. This includes museum style framing. If you go to the website, click on the art auctions and if you see something you like, contact me and I will put you in touch with my friend that will let you know exactly how low you can bid, and probably win. The website prices are the retail prices, you can get them for anywhere from 40-75% less. Helluva deal. You can contact me at [email protected] or ICQ 16075497 |

To answer questions that have already been asked: everything is original, the owner is world renowned expert in authentication, authenticates and verifies pieces for Picasso estate. So everything is guaranteed to be originals

Art can be a great investment, and my friend is into introducing people that have yet to explore the art world so that they can become comfortable with it.

You have to really know your stuff if you start buying high end pieces. A friend of mine who I'd consider pretty near expert level even got duped with an amazing fake.

Art, the best investment. It never depreciates in value and it's great to look at!

I wanted to say "no waythese go atleast 1000 times higher" but that was before I had a look at what was on there. After seeing it I'd say 3-4 times that value (for the unsigned etches, lithos, woodcarvings, screenprints, etc) |

David Rogath is the guys name that owns Martin Lawrence, technically this stuff is all his private collection.
He can provide referances from the Picasso estate and Christies of London, and Sotheby's among others if required. It is stated in the policy that if anything ever was found to be a fake, you will get 100% money back, but they have never had a fake discovered yet. |

These are mostly limited editions, so there are usually more than one piece available, which is why my connection can let you know what price range you can get away with. Someone else may pay $8k for a piece that you can get for $5k.

I fucking hate Pop Art and I fucking hate Worhol!!! He is by no means an artist and anyone who thinks he is needs to be shot! How in the name of Christ is this art!?!?!
Bullshit tragedies that takes absolutely no talent! I challenge you to prove me wrong! From his main collection, here we have "Camouflage". This would have been a great peice if the Military hadn't come out with it 100 years earlier!!! Here we have Mr. Worhol's "Phucking Around In Photoshop: Fun with Filters". It's pure garbage!

Noise.
Don't buy any of it. Invest in something you fall in love with. I have. Most of it's worth some interesting bucks. Some of it isn't but I still love it. ![]() |

many people felt the same way when warhol began producing his work in the mid sixties, they did not feel that was a form of ?art?
...as well, in the early 1900s when non-representational or art first came on the scene, people felt that art had to a direct reproduction of a physical scene or object, such as a person or landscape, or a something in history or religion?not the abstract work that russian artists such as kandinsky or malevich were putting out, or mondrian, it was revolutionary as well, in recent times, you read in the newspaper what sort of exhibits some museums display? http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles...le.asp?ID=3142 it is interesting how broad art has become defined during the past 100 years me, i think that a painting of red tomato soup can would look very good on my wall, against a flat white background

Corvett, maybe we could just agree to disagree.
BTW, anyone thinking of buying prints of any kind should forget it. If you can't buy the original then find something original that you fall in love with and buy that. At the end of the day you will end up with something beautiful and original that you love and is yours. or you will own something beautiful that 100,000 other people own and bought because they were "guaranteed" to make money on it. |

ian, i don't disagree with you, i just think some of that stuff would look good on my wall ;)
i agree with your second point, it might look nice, but there is nothing like having something unique, like nobody else has

when buying art you must buy what you enjoy looking at, then if it goes up in value it's a plus, and if it does not, you won't feel bad.

Went to a similar auction a few weeks ago. I am not well informed and I really don't know anything about this, but here is what I saw.
The picasso drawings were hitting 10-20k Erte stuff was on fire. This stuff is super hot right now. The chagall was 3-15. wide range. Dali wood (hehe dollywood) engravings of the Divine comedy are very tricky. Do alot of reading if you want to buy one of those. I managed to snag a signed one in the hundreds, but there are many flavors of this series. all done in different numbers of runs and such. I only saw one at this one and it went for 3k I remember there was a steal to be had for Klimt (1,500) and Manet (2,000). I left before any warhol or pisarro went up. Even if you aren't buying, art auctions are a good waste of time and great people watching.
