I have fond memories of my wisdom teeth extraction.

My doctor had me hopped up on really pleasant pain killers. A big fat pill every 4 hours.

The whole experience is foggy and dreamy in my memories.

Drugs can be good sometimes.

I didn't feel anything when I got mine tore out, the bleeding stopped before I left the office, they gave me percocet, big tablets.

That was a very nice relaxing few days, minus the saltwater mouth rinsing.

Hey!!

I have an appointment to get mine pulled this friday at 10am! Why does it hurt? Did they not give you painkillers? Did you go under general anaesthesia or just local? My oral surgeon wants to put me under general anaesthesia I think. I need two wisdom teeth that need to be removed, one is impacted, and the other one is still trapped under the gum but I can feel it wanting to come out, so that means they will need to cut open my gums with a scalpel, knife, or any other of their torture devices and sew it back up!

Does anyone know if they insert the IV into your arm or your hand? I'm quite nervous about that since I've never had an IV before and scared of needles. I also have a fear that I might have a bad reaction to the anaesthesia and not ever wake up, and go under cardiac arrest and die... Or what if my muscles are paralyzed and I still feel pain, but I can't let the oral surgeon know because I can't move?!

I've also never had stitches before so this is quite traumatizing to say the least. Some man is going to take a needle and stitch my life flesh and gums and veins. Just the thought of someone sewing my flesh makes me feel ill and nauseated for some reason

Should I buy clove oil in advance? I researched from Google that it could help to apply clove oil with gauze if the pain is severe...

when I had mine done, the dentist gave me two or three shots of something in my gums to kill all of the pain. Didnt feel a damned thing after that!

But where your teeth impacted or underneath your gums? One is underneath the gums so they have to slice my flesh open.
The other is like in my jaw, I read that in some bad situations they have to break your jaw in order to remove your wisdom teeth. And I can't be conscious if I'm getting stitches, I might pass out or go into shock or something. And the horrible sounds of the dentist cracking and hammering out your teeth...

I read on the net that in one instance the oral surgeons' gloves where covered in blood after he removed in someone's teeth. I'm really scared... Do you really lose that much blood?

I also read that some people actually do die from getting their wisdom teeth removed... The chances are small but it's always possible... just like with any other surgery...

I got put out for mine...got all four removed at the same time but the top two were impacted so he had to cut them out piece by piece. It wasn't painful until I started to eat food and my gums weren't healed yet..

I'm scared.. someone reassure me that I won't die or anything....
It's not very likely to die under general anaesthesia for wisdom teeth removal RIGHT?

articles i found re: PEOPLE WHO DIED from wisdom teeth surgery

Quit whining and being a pussy, I've had surgeries before (not wisdom teeth) and there's always a chance of complications when you've got a doc cutting you... however you just have to trust the doc and believe your the 99.9% that won't have any problems. If there are problems, fuckit you won't know till your burning in hell!

no point of gettin put to sleep for it... it only takes em like 1-5 min per tooth (depending how deep it grew etc)

My first 2 got removed 2 weeks ago, and it took em 10 seconds per tooth to pull...

This time, she was jabbing in there for a while for the bottom tooth... like 5 min...

however all the pain comes after the numbness goes away... time for another percocet

cya in 6.

When you get back pls let me know if it was impacted, or trapped all the way under you gums, or fully out? And also did you have stitches? Thanks

I know I'm a big baby and a wuss, but I'm scared of blood and gore... and don't have a very high pain tolerance either.

I got them pulled out at 15, so it didn't hurt at all since I was really young and I had no roots attached to my wisdom teeth!

I know I'm a big baby and a wuss, but I'm scared of blood and gore... and don't have a very high pain tolerance either.

They inject a few needles to numb it up, and 5 min later they start. To tell u the truth I never seen any blood.

The only thig I felt was the pressure of the dentist digging in under the tooth to wedge it out. I had only 1 hole stitched (the one that took 5 min, which was bottom left) The other teeth came out like buttah.

Its been about 6 hours after the procedure and my jaw is a bit swollen, but the blood has clotted. Secret is to bite on teabags one after another every 20-30 min. Tea has a clotting agent.

Thats about it.

Edit: Teeth were all out, however giving me problems. (The gums were swelling up over the tooth and giving me some crazy ass pain when trying to bite). I'm only 20 so they werent completely grown. The longer you wait the bigger the problem.

WOW, I'm amazed after reading this thread because a year ago, I got 2 wisdom teeth pulled out and never felt a thing both during and after it was done. Plus I only took one painkiller, not because I was in pain, but because I feared that what they gave me would wear off. All of that worrying for nothing, he he he. I guess that I should feel fortunate now that I hear your stories.

Stop tripping. Ofcourse the wisdom teeth are under the gum. They should should be. Thats how everyones is. Your doctor will prescribe you pain killers. Dont worry about stitches they dont hurt. Have you even ever been to the dentist?

k. I've been to the dentist a lot but mostly they just check for cavities and do x-rays, at the worst fill a cavity, but I never had a dentist cut my gums before. Besides this is different than going to a dentist because I will have to go to an oral surgeon.

Takes about 2 days til the pain goes away. Then you'll be playing with the holes for a while with your tongue.

At least you only have to do it once in your lifetime.

Imagine the pain before modern dentistry was invented. Those people must have gone through absolute hell when they had teeth problems.
