Any photographers or content guys around?

I now have 3 digital cameras (one of them is a camcorder with high res, takes good stills) and i cant get a good image.

This is what im looking for, please tell me if its possible to find

1. digital film. I dont want to be restricted to 24 pics per roll or some shit ... i wanna take thousands! lol

2. quick-snap. I want to press the trigger and have a picture! Dont want to wait 2 seconds for it to focus and shit ... want point and shoot!!

3. 35mm quality. I want to be able to have my pics printed as high of a quality as 35mm. Nothing i have used or seen has been anywhere near this quality.

4. spot focus. I like this option so i can focus in on a subject and the rest is out of focus.



If i have to spend $4k for the camera then thats fine, but i dont want a big fucking machine either, it must be somewhat decent sized.

Id like to be able to carry it in a camera bag along with a tripod and some big ass lenses (since none of these cameras seam to have a good enough zoom)


any ideas? Is this Canon G5 or someshit i keep hearing about, is this a good pick for me?

Hi,

The first thing you have to understand is... If you want to be a dentist, you can't use a Black & Decker Drill... You need to get a professional dentist drill. Same with photography! If you want to take pictures get that $300.00 camera. If you want to take photographs get a professional camera, studio lighting and learn how to use it.

Look at purchasing exclusive content... It's not that expensive, if you have a site that converts...

im not looking to do content, im looking to do lots of outdoor scenes and family pics ... portrait style i guess?

Im big on "creating memories" and i love photography so id like to be able to take an amazing pic when the time is right.

I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but for around $2500 you can get a nice 6 megapixel camera with a 1gig memory card, extra batteries, lenses, etc.

I looked at the Canon 10D and the Nikon equivilient. I chose the Canon because I liked the control placement but they're both about the same.

$2500 bought me the body, lense, side handle/extra battery holder, 1 gig lexar flash card, battery charger and case.

The camera has excellent response, no noticable shutterlag and a burst mode that takes 3 or 4 frames per second. There are several great reviews of both cameras available around the net.

Studio answered the question about the hardware.

A 1 gig card will do 300 printable images, if you want quality go for the biggest size Jpeg.

Then you have to learn how to use a camera, if you do not already know. Knowledge about light and framing is important.

this is a function of f/stop. most consumer digicams have fairly large depth of field due to small sensor size.

if you really want to isolate subjects and have backgrounds out of focus you need to minimize the depth of field with a big lens opening and bigger image sensor in the digital camera.

and if that is the type of photography that appeals to you, you should use an SLR and use lenses that create beautiful "bokeh" which gives the out-of-focus areas a mottled soft pastel look---(rather than the geometric mottling of lesser lenses) this is created with a more-expensive-to-manufacture circular lens diaphragm, (which has more leaves) but the illusion simulates the way the human eye and brain perceive out-of-focus areas and makes the resultant photographs very natural and beautiful looking.

a few of the high-end nikon lenses do this, one of the best is the new 70-200mm VR.

Taking good pictures is 90% the photographer and 10% equipment. You can own $10K worth of equipment and if you don't understand lighting, contrast, composition and such, you'll take crappy photos.

Instead of trying new equipment, which probably won't improve your pictures, try posting some of your pics and let the photographers here teach you what to do. Or check out some of the photography boards on the net, there's a bunch out there.

Try doing some reading Rich.. That will improve your results more than any equipment will.
