Toughts about popup-blocker in Service Pack 2?

I think its good that Microsoft adds a popup-blocker in Service Pack 2.
The surfers dosent want to click on sponsor links anymore.
If they have done it 2-3 times before they know that it only bring them to a popup-hell.
I think we will make more money without popups.

I remember when I was a horny 16 yr old porn-surfer. ;)
I wanted to check out a site just to see if I could get more free pics, but I didnt do it cuz I got sick of all those popups.

My point is that more people will click on the links and get to the sponsor page. Maby the signup-ratio will not be as good as before but I think we will make more money.

Whats your thoughts?

(Sorry for my bad english but I think you will understand the most of it ;) )

Many per click programs are anticipating that coming trend so some sites like Offshore Clicks have popup stopper-proof popups. There's many ways to make a new window spawn. This next update of IE will have a temporary effect until the new generation of popups become standard.

I thing it will cost webmasters more money that you can imagen.
Without popups you are going to get -30% of your income. But off couse it is great for the surfer. But i realy dont care much about surfers. Like everybody else i am here for the money!

As a surfer, it doesn't mean shit to me because I don't use Microsoft's ass browser.

As a webmaster, it's a little bit of a headache re-writing popup code through a shitload of pages to defeat the popup blocker. I don't anticipate this causing much, if any loss in revenue for me personally.

Yeah ok, maby the popups will beat Service Pack 2, but however, Microsoft will create a patch and soon all popups will be gone.

What they should do is have some Active X popup blocker. For thsoe damn annoying spywares that try to install and you have to click NO like 5 times before they finally go away

Never put pop ups on my page, just found that it cuts the number of recurring visitors down a lot. Wouldn't be a major change for me at all

there will always be annoying advertising...

From Screaming banners to epileptic producing color flashing .

You will see alot more 3 pages of FPA's before your allowed in to the free sites etc.. Just like yahoo is doing and most non adult free services..

You will see alot of...

" No thanks continue on to the free porn here "

and full page flash overlay's

You can also make full page div overlay's or applet overlays...

FOr my computer, I've tried many, finally settling on Pop-up No No, which is freeware. It's the best one I've had yet!

Give the surfer a little more credit. If he uses an popup stopper and you keep showing him popups, youre not taking him serious.

Give the webmaster a bit of credit. If i run a free site and you dont click on my ads then i don't make any money and can no longer afford to show you free stuff..

Feel sorry for the surfer trying to intentionally bypass my revenue in order to gain access to my website content for free.. haha

If anything i should be sending people bills for trying to bypass popups..

You ever wonder why you see more and more logo's on tv now ???

Because people are bypassing the commercials.. same idea..

Just for that comment im going to build a special popup code that detects if the user is using popup blocking software by reading cookies in the window, if they attempt to view more than one page and have not viewed my popup yet. The ip will be banned and they will be sent away on a fun journey..
