    The israeli airforce

Hey small that i came accross while i've search google for some porn.. heh ;)

It seems like the israeli air force isn't really based on US tech, it seems like alot of the US tech is based on the israeli one as well.

The Israeli air force indeed is an interesting thing and has a very interesting and special history.
Note though, that its beginning was not supported by the US (back in the early days of Israel) but with French crafts.
Today though most of the technology and crafts are US/Israel produced, for both armies that is.

what so ever from weaponry and should refrain from posting on

Uzi's are known for jamming up, very bad accuracy, etc, etc
as a matter of fact an uzi is most lethal if you use it like a stick

It IS a fact that 25% of the Isreali defense budget is being paid
                by the US.

Yeah - I've read that many experts consider the Israeli manufactured Galil assault rifle to be one of the best and most reliable in the world.

Maybe the poorly maintained, never cleaned Uzis tht gangbangers use on the street have a tendency for jamming. And as for accuracy? They are SMGs, they are designed for close quarters combat and don't need the accuracy of a rifle. I have fired an UZI and I found it to be very accurate, at the ranges it was designed for.

I've served in the Israeli airforce. Won't say much though but it's obvious and well known the US and Israel do work together with their technologies.

So true. Israel decided a month ago to completely retire the uzi.

The Uzi has been manufactured in several countries and it was available in 3 versions: standard, mini, and micro. At its peak, the Uzi was used by police, military and security forces in close to 100 countries.

The Galil was also apparently an excellent weapon, but not widely used by the Israelis, since they could buy the M16 more cheaply. It was exported to several countries and variants were made in South Africa and I believe, Eastern Europe.

Israel also designed its own smaller, lighter version of the F-16: the Lavi. Politics killed that plane before it was completely developed, but their Merkava battle tank repeatedly out-performed the Abrams M1 in every field test. Armed with Israeli-made kinetic energy shells, in Lebanon the Merkava was successful against the (then) supposedly unbeatable Soviet T72.

Just yesterday I read about the latest bit of Israeli military hardware: mini drones. They have had larger unmanned planes for a while (the US Hunter drone is based on Israeli technology), but one of the new models is small enough to go in a soldier's back-pack: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3571261.stm

Less dramatically, Israel is a world leader in agricultural technology and strongly represented in bio-technology, computer hardware and software, communications, imaging and more.

Apart from working with the US, Israel is openly in partnership with China on agricultural projects and allegedly sold China plans for the Lavi when development of the plane was shelved at home.

                                        Yep.
But also, goes back entirely to the US market since thats the conditions for the grant.
                                        Regarding the Uzi.
Indeed Uzi is not a sniper riffle, so accuracy is not an issue.
Not only it is Jam prone, it is also known to be trigger happy when it falls, meaning, bullets might escape and get shot unintentionally.
However, you have to remember when it was invented and for what purpose/use.
It is a compact urban warfare gun, rapid fire power, and for that it is very useful. It is being phased out and now there is the new Arava gun (kickass piece if you ask me).
The Galil is a kickass weapon. Really reliable. However, I personally didn't like the handling of it. Especially the upward handle (Kalatchnikov style). Especially since I am left handed.
Regarding Jams though (which the Galil almost never have), jams are not that important as suggested here, even in combat, if you know how to treat them. Remember, you are not alone in the battlefield. As to Uzi, I wouldn't say it is much worse than the M-16 and for the combat type, I would worry more about M-16 jamming on me than Uzi.

About Mirage. It is long now that there aren't any in the Israeli airforce.
