Animated .gifs

This may sound like a dumb question to some, but I have never made an animated .gif. So, my question is, how do I do it? Photoshop? ImageReady? Paint? Word? Let me in on the fun.

Make the layers in Photoshop
jump it to imageready to animate it

imageready....you make the pics in photoshop (1 pic, multiple layers) and press the export to imageready button (under the toolbar)

There you can animate it simply by clicking on/off / moving layers
