I say take evderything to a populas vot, every single item.... vote yes or no..... no amendments....everything stands on its own straight across the board on all levels....

here is the issue (if a combination of issues then break them out into individual issues) and vote YES or No plain and simple
majority vote rules....

you don't like the outcome? then you can always move to a state that shares your interests....

agreed, we can also get rid of Congress

...it is REALLY not as necessary now that we have this Interweb and the techology to allow (almost) EVERY CITIZEN to vote on shit weekly or monthly....before Congress was needed primarily because not all the 'people' could be heard at the top for logistical reasons...

:thumbsup :thumbsup

Direct democracy would be worse than representative democracy, imo. Most voters are terribly uneducated about the issues they are votiing on (myself included, to be honest). I'm not at all comfortable with the idea of all legislation coming down to a popularity contest; under a direct democracy, anyone on the margins of "social acceptability" would be even more screwed than they are now.

I'm not sure who originally said it, but it's a great line: "Democracy is the assumption that more than half the people are right more than half the time."

I'd have to agree with you, the previous statement was a knee(mouth?)jerk response...

Congress just pisses me off at times, what I WOULD like to see more of is a 'leash' on their asses so they know they can get fired pretty much whenver they piss off their constituents who they are supposed to be representing....ie a 'recall' leash on them....

sure there is potential for abuse of that, however I prefer to be the abuser than the abused....

angelsofporn 03-25-2004 12:49 PM

Don't worry we only have about 20 more years of the old conservative generation born prior to 1950 left. Once they're dead and buried our generation will get rid of all the bullshit laws they've imposed on us all.

Its going to one liberal fucking country then. Kind of like GFY.

Then it'll be Juicy For President time!

:helpme this is fucking stupid.

How many people do you think will break this law? Sending someone to prison for piercing THEIR own body, what's next? Dying your head blue will become illegal? :321GFY

Samantha_Luvcox 03-25-2004 04:05 PM

So, Nipple, Ear, toung, eyebrow, nose, and bellybuttons are still legal?

Do those that already have clit rings get "grandfathered" in?

That issue is so funny to me. Gay Marriage has ALWAYS been illegal in the US, and in 1997, Clinton signed the Defence of Marriage Act, that meant that even if some states decided to make it legal....other states would not have to recognise it.

Why does everyone think that this just happened? You guys are such slaves to anti-bush propaganda:2 cents:

Perhaps that's because Bush is in support of a Constitutional amendment. It maybe illegal now, but that could be contested as unconstitutional at the moment.

Mr. Marks 03-25-2004 07:08 PM

They have their reasons. Can't really do anything about it.
