It won't exactly be like the one on Star Trek, but a Norwegian software company is getting set to launch the next big thing on the Internet - a communicating browser.

OperaSoftware will put voice recognition capabilites into its next generation of surf programs, allowing the visually impaired, the disabled, and those who are just tired of using an uncomfortable mouse to have a hands-free experience online.

The company admits its new program is still in the development stage, but was confident enough of its performance to stage a demonstration on Tuesday.

I can suddenly picture Scotty talking to the computer in that one movie where they went back in time "hello computer. Hello computer" and then he picked up the mouse and talked into that "hello computer"
