$250 fine or put the dog to sleep

My father was talking to a lady he knows back in Fort Worth...anyway someone complained and said that her dog was barking and causing a disturbance...she claims the neighbor teases the dog anyway the animal control came out listened and gave the lady this ultimatum.

$250 or put the dog to sleep...she let them put her dog to sleep.

Fuck that shit...they would have to bust the door in to get my dog and before that happened I'd be on the phone with news and a lawyer.

She's an older lady..my dad is 64...so I think she was intimidated by the law and the amount of the fine.

I don't know if I actually hold it against her or not she was apparently feeling horrible about it.

I got my dog for my 10th birthday. I'm 23 now. I can't imagine putting him to sleep. I know if he was sick, and in alot of pain, I would hate to see him like that.. But I just can't imagine putting him down

True..probably couldn't afford it if she was elderly... But she could have given it away or something . I love my animals too much..I would rather move then have them put to sleep.

I'd hope that there is more to the story than that. I don't think animal control would work that way even in Texas. I say BS.

on a different note, the people around the corner from me had these two dogs that they let run free. those dogs killed two little dogs and several cats before the city finally made the people put the dogs down. apparently you can just keep paying fines for stuff like that around here.

I would think that would be the case here too..fines on top of fines...when my father and I discussed it I basically came to the conclusion that she let this animal control officer bully her into this without further investigating what her options were.

Nobody could ever take my dog away from me. NEVER. I'd do anything to resolve the situation. Spending 30$ on a training book would have likely saved the dog.

I don't understand why people don't train their dogs. I feel like delivering "How to Train Your Dog For Dummies " books to all my neighbours with untrained barky dogs.

The city should make people take bark obedience classes instead of just fines.

Blah, I totally agree with you, putting down my dog was the hardest decision I've made in years, and I still second guess the way I did it after learning that you could get a vet to do it in your home instead of the sanitized, and loveless animal hospital.

He was in alot of pain at the time, got really thin, didn't eat much, and could barely walk, it would have been extremely selfish to keep him around in pain.

This crap in Texas is disturbing, I'd sell the house before letting them put down my best friend.

thats bullshit, i would have done whatever i had to do to not get the dog put to sleep. my neighbors leave their dog outside all day and the dogs just sit there and bark. i think its the owners faults too for the dogs barking, but putting them to sleep because of it shouldnt be an option.

The fucking idiot two floors under me hurts his little female dog every fucking day. She cries a lot
I woke up one day with her crying and I thought it would be fatal. This piece of shit.

We put some signs in the elevator "take care of your pets" and on his floor, but he keeps with it. Yesterday I screamed "hey, stop with that!"... next time I think I'll use words as fuck and idiot. Motherfucker.

She should have gotten a bark collar. I have three dogs, but my neighbors on both sides also have dogs, so it's OK. My dogs don't bark until theirs do.
