Help: Etymology of the phrase "moon cricket" - GoFuckYourself.com

If you're not aware, the phrase "moon cricket" is a derogatory term for African-Americans. It has long been one of my favorites, but I've searched high and low and never been able to find out how the term came into being.

I've searched Google, browsed various dictionaries, and asked everyone from a 1960's era ex-klansman to a negro who purported to be a NOI member how "moon cricket" came into being, but I have had no luck.

Can anyone help me?

Most of the better terms are self explanatory. Its pretty obvious what vine pilot, yard ape, knuckledragger, and porch monkey mean for example. But moon cricket? Hmm.

I think it was invented by an old GFY user called "Gutterboy".

If only he was still around, you could ask him what it means.

Cricket
- Blacks
- Color of skin vs. cricket's color (brown/black). Could also refer to Blacks that stay up all night playing loud thumping music, real common in the industrial Midwest.

Moon Cricket
- Blacks
- See Cricket. Possibly derived from the "MC" often used after many black nicknames.

Moon Cricket (2)
- Whites
- The slur is also used by some Native Americans against whites: "moon" as in pale, and "cricket" as in whites have big eyes and gangly legs. Whites also make annoying sounds like crickets.
