Saw Dawn of the Dead today...

It wasn't bad. Decent acting. Lots of blood. Faster zombies. The make-up/special effects were much better, of course.

If you like the genre, its worth watching.

I won't ruin it, but the best part of the movie was...

"Jay Leno."
"Burt Reynolds."
"Rosie O'Donnell."

You'll understand if you watch it

Depends on what you find scary. Its pretty suspenseful and really gory at times. If zombies jumping out of nowhere, trying to rip your head off is scary, then yeah, its scary

i missed the preview on USA or whatever earlier in the month, so i gotta get off my ass and go watch it

Hmm... the original Night of the Living Deda came out in 68.... Dawn of the Dead came out in 78.
28 Days Later came out in 2002.

Somehow, I just don't see how Dawn of the Dead could be a rip off of 28 Days Later.

Maybe it's just me.

Well, considering that the original DotD was a sequel (sort of) of NotLD, I wouldn't say that its ripping that movie off. The zombies are a lot more like the zombies from 28 days later, than the originals. Who says zombies have to be slow and retarded?

And don't forget that The Last Man on Earth came out in 1964. Of course you could say that they are all ripping off White Zombie which as we all know came out in 1932.

"tom seviny" has a small role in the movie

Just go and enjoy it - if you like the genre, you'll like this movie.

I just got back, and I thought it kicked fucking ass. Also, make sure you stay thru the credits, or you'll miss the ending of the movie.

Great movie! Forget any comparisons to Romero because it is apples and oranges. The name and the mall are about the only things they have in common.

I met George Romero at a science fiction convention almost 20 years ago. He was onstage showing off some of the big effects from the movie. A head that could make expressions and a few other body parts too.

I don't know if I'm gonna see the new movie in the theater though. I didn't think his version was that incredible to begin with.

Saw it tonight.

It was missing something . . but I can't put my finger on it. As I recall the plot points, the script was really good. Some elements just lacked the emotional impact that they should have had... likely due to poor directing/editing. And I think some of the gore was censored. But I had low expectations for this remake, and I ended up really enjoying it. Go see it in theatres. If for no other reason, to support horror at the box office, and maybe it will motivate studio execs to finally let Romero direct the 4th part of his 'Dead' series.

also, the lead actress in this movie was also in 'No Such Thing' which I encourage renting.

Yeah I saw this movie, this afternoon.. wow it was awesome. Right from the start it was very fast paced. I don't want to say too much and ruin it for anyone else... but yes stay till the end of the credits.

Oh and if you have a girl you want to get close to.. bring her to this. ;)
