$50 reward - cleaner XL question
I will gladly paypal $50 to the first poster who call tell me how to create a watermark that works for cleaner XL.
Quotes from the documentation don't count, it has to actually be usable information. So far I tried converting a .png per the docs, and the only tech support notes I found at their website related to older versions and using photoshop to create an alpha channel on .PICT files. Any takers?

never used the program, but according to the PDF user guide on their site, it seems like a piece of cake.
Watermark It is sometimes important to watermark your video to ensure viewers know who owns or created the files. The watermarking filter applies a watermark to movies by compositing the watermarking graphic directly onto the video track. It supports up to 32-bit color watermarks, using transparency to control the opacity of the watermark image. To create a watermark: 1. Create the watermark image on a transparent background with an image-editing application. 2. Set the opacity of the watermark to control its transparency. 3. Save the image as a .png file. Chapter 7: Filters 94 To load the watermark image: Click the Browse Files button to locate and load the watermark image. To apply fades to the watermark: 1. From the Watermark options group, select Apply fade in to watermark to fade in the watermark with the image fade in. 2. From the Watermark options group, select Apply fade out to watermark to fade out the watermark with the image fade out. creating the png is easy.. create a new image in PS with a transparent bg.. drop some text or whatever, then save as png. |

Thanks, I tried that before I posted, didn't work. I think it has something to do with the alpha channel, and rasterizing the image first, which I played around with the same results.

THE SAINT,
In photoshop, create a new image with transparent background. Make new layer for your text or watermark image. So you either have text with transparent background, or image with another transperent layer. Set the opacity to what you want it to look like over the video. Save as a .png. Load your video files as you normally would. Go to job, video filter settings, edit, click on watermark, then browse files to locate your .png. Try to uncheck other settings if you can. Load it up and submit your job to cue, should work just fine.

Oh ,and make sure you have your movie that you are going to encode CLICKED AND HIGHLIGHTED in the source window before you add the watermark. VERY IMPORTANT

Thanks for the try. I tried variations of that about 1000 times before posting, never get a watermark. Doesn't it have to be raterized first and use an alpha channel, I know for old cleaner thats the way it worked.
I've tried encoding many times and never get anything. Also I've been told that when you set the filter you'll immediately see the watermark reflected on the monitor window, no watermark there either. ![]()

Also try and make your watermark layer/ image size, the same as you movie. If its too big might be going off the screen.

Yeah, I make sure I select the movie first, turns blue. Then I click on the filter settings, load the watermark. When you open the filter the blue turns to a light color but its still selected and checked.
The I close the filter window (it doesn't have an ok button), go back and click it again and its still set as expected. Yes, I am using the correct image size. Tried smaller ones too, in case it was flowing off thw screen. Any chance you could email me a watermark - [email protected]? Then I could see if that one works for me, and figure out where I might be fucking up?

Watermarks with cleaner - for video. Its pretty well known that for the old cleaner, you had to create an alpha channel and save the watermark as a pict.
On cleaner XL, the help full just says create a .png - hard to figure out how I could screw that up, but when I look at the monitor window or actually encode a vid I get no watermark.

Ok, I've been at this for about 15 hours now, I haven't slept, my breath smells bad, and the wife is looking at me funny.
I'll up the ante to $100 if anyone can help me get this to work. If It don't get any takers by around 12:00 noon EST I'm just going to go to their website and buy the full version for $550 to get support; I own the academic version that doesn't come with any.

Uh-Oh. Before I spend $550, are you saying watermarks don't work in XL? Thats what I am beginning to suspect.

How many output profiels do you have? You knw you have to add the watermark for each profile, basically click on the profile and then addwatermark for each one seperatly.
