I think my rabbit is gonna die :(

Had some spasm a few days ago and ever since he cant move his legs too well, making him pretty much helpless and cant eat or drink.

I think it was a stroke or something

so now he is basically shitting on himself, cant eat or drink, and just kind of wiggles around

with my rabbits in the past i have seen them have the same spasms and they kinda lay on their sides for a few hours, but its been like 3 days now

very sad to think he will most likely die and i cant help him at all.

have to just sit here and wait until he dies

very sad to me

I wonder if i can give him half an asprin or something? Anyone good with animals?

That sucks.

Take him to the vet, and get him put out of his misery if need be... spending his last days/ hours paralysed and covered in his own filth is no way to go.

I'm pretty sure asprin will kill animals so don't do that.

I would go get him checked out and find out for sure.. IF that is the case then i would have him put down..as hard as it is it is much more humane than letting him die a slow and painful death

Take him to a vet, better yet a specialist. Most vets won't pick up on stuff that specialists do. (exotics, etc.)

Sorry about your bunny

I had a rabbit who had a brain tumor and my vet told me this was very common in rabbits, and causes seizures/strokes. I had my rabbit put to sleep so she wouldn't have to have more seizures, vet said she would have died within a few days anyway.

I know it's hard to make the choice to put them to sleep if they don't seem to be suffering...and a car ride/vet visit can be really traumatic for a rabbit...Sadly once they're like this they usually don't get better though

he doesnt appear to be in pain, he just cant move his back legs much

he isnt really trying to move, but he can kind of drag himself around and/or wiggle into the position he wants to be in.

When this happened to my last rabbit it only lasted a few hours or at tops maybe a day and then he was back to normal, im hoping for the same thing here.

he really doesnt look like he is in pain, just very depressed if anything .... i guess id be pretty upset if i shit on myself and couldnt hop around :/

lil2rich4u2,

My girlfriend actually got a huge rabbit jumping around in the house and he had that problem.
I searched high and low to find someone who could figure out why and paid shitloads of bills.

I finally figured out, after loads of articles on the net, that it's caused because he was way too horny but nowhere to go and get laid so his hormons actually nearly killed him. So all it took was a circumcise and he's doing well now...

I'm not bullshitting you... AND... I'm FINALLY getting laid again

Best of luck...

If your pet is sick, TAKE IT TO THE VET!!! It should not take a bunch of webmasters on a message board to tell you that much. If you are really an animal lover like you say, you would not have left it like that for 3 days without getting it professional help.
I repeat: People like you do not deserve to have pets.

Sad news.

Take him to the vet, if hes not too old he may just have something he can recover from. But if not get him put down. I can't stand seeing animals suffering.

I hope he can recover.

My rabbit had the same problem.... it lasted for a few months and he just got worse and worse and eventually died.

He was never in any pain and still seemed in good spirits, but his hind legs were just lame and his vestibular system was messed up so he wasn't really interested in eating very well. It was pretty sad.

I still haven't gotten another pet since then.

Umm, this guy once, on message board, one time, he took his sick rabbit to vet and the vet couldn't help it.

Guess there's nothing you can do now but sit on your ass shoving asprin in your rabbit watching it die a horrible and possibly preventable death.

Nothing you can do right?

GO TO THE FUCKING VET YOU CHEAP ASS LAZY "animal lover."

Dude... the guy is letting his helpless rabbit starve to death... and YOU'RE telling ME to lay off? Something's not right here.

You may be right... maybe there is nothing that can be done to help it. But if that's the case, there IS something that can be done to keep it from dying a slow, miserable death. And if the vet can't fix it, at least Rich will know he tried, right? But even if the rabbit can't be fixed, for God's sake... have it put to sleep! Don't just sit there and watch it starve to death!

It's the responsibility of every pet owner to do their best to keep their pets happy and healthy. And part of that is seeking professional medical attention when necessary. Anybody who can "just sit here and wait until he dies" is definitely no animal lover. If you think that his actions (or lack of) are okay, you need help just as much as Rich does, and neither of you should be allowed to have pets.

Take the rabbit to the vet. If what's happened is permanent, you'll know. Then you can make the decision based on what his quality of life is expected to be.

I'd think if the tables were turned and you were totally dependent on someone else for your care, that if something wasn't right with you healthwise, you'd want them to do something about it instead of just sitting outside your room and peering in from time to time to see if you were still alove.

Take him to the vet. I am sure that they could help him in some way. In the mean time, grind up some of his pellets and eye dropper or (oral syringe) feed him.
