I love it, but man it adds up.. Not much ya can do about that.

But the fucking 25.00 a month extra they charge me for having a box on my other tvs (5 extra TV's at 5/00 each they charge) in the house is fucking crazy..

Try and call the cable company and get 5 boxes for all your tv's on digital cable and then get back to me about the price. You'll be paying a shitload more than you ever would with DirecTV.

mindoza 03-16-2004 03:37 PM

I pay for direct tv $120/month for 4 tv's tivo premium package but no sports package. it will cost me the same for cable with half the stations

It would save 15.00 a month..

I mean the the 3 recievers are in rooms we dont watch tv in everyday anyhow..

The pool room, the bonus room, and the family room..
Shit those tvs are on maybe only once a week if even that.

You should be able to rewire that yourself and make them each share one of your other boxes. But keep in mind that they will only be able to watch what the other person is watching in the other room. Then after you rewire it just call DirecTV and canle the boxes you took out.

boneprone 03-16-2004 03:39 PM

yep same here.

The Digital cable in this area is owned by Comcast...

They are the bigggest fucking crooks..

Shit, they charge me so much as it is for my cable internet..

Digital cable in all the rooms, with all the movie channels would cost just as much..

And there isnt even an NBA league pass aviable is there?

Hey, Im being charged 5.00 a month extra for each room i have a reciever.. is there a way around that so that i dont have to pay the 5.00 per box. I have a bunch of rooms with tvs. Its costing me an extra 25.00 a month just for extra fucking tvs in my house..
You are mad at us theives yet you want to rip them off yourself?

DreamCumTrue 03-16-2004 03:40 PM

We pay $100 for Cox Digital Cable, DVR, HBO package and our cable modem. I don't think that's bad.

hoe_vender 03-16-2004 04:04 PM

quit buying porn

CDSmith 03-16-2004 04:10 PM

But on their commercial they say "Direct TV --- all for a price that can be cheaper than cable"

I always wondered about the way they worded that.

Those fuckers.

I think I'll upgrade my service to full digital. It's only $109 per month here, and it includes cable modem. :D

exspamr 03-16-2004 04:17 PM

and to think that the dept of justice goes after microsoft for bundling free shit with their os... the television services are the worst monopoly out there... the addition of satalite services was supposed to be good for competition but a lot of areas dont have the option of choosing between services because they arent availible... and the areas have both arent really benefitting from lower costs... you guys are adult webmasters who supposedly make a lot of money and it bothers you... as it should because its just a fuckin ripoff, but you wouldnt believe how many people who dont make a good living have cable bills in excess of over 100 a month... its fucking common and shocking... there has been talk of some kind of legislation in the works but no solution has been agreed upon yet... the best idea that i heard was a flat charge per channel of about a buck a month per channel... most people only watch a few channels anyway so this would be a good solution for the consumer... while i doubt it will come to pass i hope it does

Alvaro 03-16-2004 04:17 PM

directv here is $30 a month with 100+ channels including pay per view and porn stuff

Jon 03-16-2004 05:40 PM

boneprone,

perhaps it's time to invest in a card scanning machine to give yourself $900 in credits for every swipe, for free.

axelcat 03-16-2004 05:41 PM

So you dont have cbs

And you'll only be able to watch all the channels you pay for on ONE tv. Try adding digital to every room in your house and watch that price skyrocket.

Read my post above about C-Band, it has been like that for years. Most channels average around 10 bucks a year. Others are bundled with extra feeds. I pay $15/year for a news pack that has CNN, CNN Headline, CNNI, CNNSI & Fox News. Another package is $12.99/year for Nick east & west & TVLAND.

My most expensive pack currently is $49.50 for 3 months of 34 feeds of HBO & Cinemax. It's 27.50 for a similar sized package of Showtime/TMC/Flix/Sundance feeds for 3 months.

DatingGold 03-16-2004 06:04 PM

Cool cable company. If ours did that I would drop DSL and local phone service and go completely cell phone.

Dude, you're not watching all those channels. That's for sure. It cost me 135$ (for all the God damn channels available) for BellExpress Vu and I managed to reduce it to 80$ without losing any channels I didn't want.

Jon 03-16-2004 06:35 PM

Again..

Anyone with Digital Cable or Satelite where there is a card being used is getting ripped off.

You can EASILY pay $10-$20 per $100 worth of units for your card. Forget these monthly fees. You can get EVERY channel, plus all the pay-per-view movies or events your lil channel surfing heart desires.

I paid for the satelite dish, 5 boxes, and 1 monthly fee for the lowest package, then I got this box, and now I get everything I want for pretty much FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

When I used to have regular cable, I had the black box, and got everything for free anyhow. They are fucking you, so why not fuck them right back..

:thumbsup

reynold 03-16-2004 07:39 PM

riosluts 03-16-2004 07:41 PM

holy i just pay $47 bucks and that is in canadian funds. You probably have all the packages. Here satelite TV is about $60 bucks and $5 per receiver

foolio 03-16-2004 07:49 PM

watching TV is fucking expensive!! fuck that crap - I have baisc cable and thats coo with me.

emthree 03-16-2004 08:08 PM

I normally don't support pirated things, but when it comes to TV I think some of the prices are outrageous.

Example: the wrestling package on 103 was $50.00, I find that crazy...especially when I only watch X amount of a show/event/channel, I usually don't have time nor patience to watch it for extended periods.

Does your current receivers support HUCards or do they use P4?

If they support HUCards I would advise you to do the following
1) Keep your legit DTV service (cheapest package) [1 receiver]
2) Buy a Card Programmer [ebay]
3) Program the cards yourself, watch whatever you want ... and don't pay outrageous prices

If you want to talk to me further about this, hit me up :)

*There are minimum risks involved as most of you know*

raster 03-16-2004 10:53 PM

Plus they are phasing out the HU cards and there are no public hacks for the new cards.

By the time I create a card, walk around my home and replace all the cards in all the rooms, the card will be zapped already.

Steen2 03-16-2004 11:05 PM

Virgin P4 cards $100 USD via Paypal each! :winkwink:

Now one thing you can do is if you get one of those expensive ass remote controls that works through walls and shit, then you could change channels on the receiver from any room in the house maybe, but I'm not sure.

There are actually parts you can buy at RadioShack called 'cones' and you place one in the room with the receiver and one in the second room and presuming you have two remote controls you can change the channels from the second room - but you watch the same show (you won't be able to watch seperate shows unless you have two receivers)

Im paying 180$ for cable internet with no channels! :(

Yes its true sometimes the cards do get hashed but I have heard a person could have them back up within minutes. Sometimes they last a few days sometimes a few weeks and with good 3ms and locks they could last a few months. I don't do it but this is what I have heard:glugglug
