Funny How Movies Can Change Your Attitude.... (very sad now)

It's funny how movies can completely change your attitude. I was having a great day. Now I'm on the "down" side. I watched "American History X" followed by "Guilty by Association". In both movies, a kid dies.

These movies make me very afraid. Scared shitless, actually. I have a 4 year old. He's so sweet and innocent. He's a perfect little gentleman that thinks of others. He seriously does. I just recently took him to Chuck E Cheese and he noticed a little girl that was sitting at a game, not playing because she didn't have any tokens. So he took one of his and put it into her game so she could play. I didn't ask him to do that, or suggest it in any way. Kindness just comes so naturally to him.

Movies like this make me think, "What kind of fucking world did I bring him into?" I wish I could protect him from the bad guys forever.

Damn.

you can protect him from the bad guys pretty easily, by following these simple guidelines.

1. never let him forget that he is loved
2. set a good example
3. support him in whatever he decides to do, even if it isn't really what you had in mind (ie: he wants to be a pro stuntman when you wanted him to be a lawyer)
4. emphasize to him the importance of an education
5, teach him to learn from his mistakes, and whenever possible, learn from the mistakes of others
6. never trust whitey

That will never happen. One of the reasons he's such a great kid is because he is SO loved. Everyone shows him they love him: me, his mother, his grandmother, aunts, everyone idolizes him.

2. set a good example
I sure hope I do that. His mother sure doesn't like my chosen profession, but I try in every way.

That will definitely happen. His mother (my ex-wife) and I have talked a lot about his future. We both agree that his daddy will never turn his back on him. No matter what. If he decides to love boys, becomes a bum, murders someone... whatever... daddy is there for him.

4. emphasize to him the importance of an education
Yes, for sure.

I plan to do just that.

Don't really know what to say to that one. We're caucasian. But I will teach him the realities of life. I'll have to say, some of the most untrustworthy scum I've ever met are white. Some of said scum are my cousins, unfortunately.

Kindness usually stays with kids. I always shared EVERYTHING I had. I still do.

I'd say don't be afraid of discipline when he deserves it. Everyone I know that's not doing so well now had parents that let them get away with whatever they want...

I watched a movie called Home Room. Its based around a school shooting. It wasn't a great movie, but it made me think of Columbine. Kind of saddened me.

When you talked about American History X that gave me the idea to watch it . I'm currently at the part where he gets raped in jail . That's one of the best fucking movie I've ever seen and I didn't even remember about it.

Make sure he knows to trust no one. Everyone wants something from you, and most will go to great lengths to get what they want. The only real friends anyone has are close family, and in some cases that isn't even true. A sad reality.
