Bad call. The 2 logos look nothing a like other then the fact they are both black widow spiders.

A ton of companies, products, sites, and groups popularize the black widow as a logo in various incarnations.

Smack's design has a spider that is curved in appearance, while mcweb software's spider uses straight lines for the legs.
The mcweb software spider also has a set of noticeable eyes.

A widow spider would not be my choice for a logo however, as it's an over used symbol in logo design.

Here is a quick entry. I may add additional entries if I have time.

I dropped the text "Webmaster Directory" out of redundancy. (The term appears on your site a number of times already.) Visitors/customers will also come to recognize your logo as your brand is built up over time.

Typography can be added if absolutely required. Both XL + Site sized included along with full component files.

Thanks. I just noticed the shadow under the large version looks a bit bright on this display. It should blend smoothly with the black bottom edge of the capsule.

It might just be this monitor that isn't calibrated correctly.

I like this font very much... it is vector spiced up a little but can it be plain blue and the text is not a must. Hope you like it.

Quatermain's is beautifully rendered - but it's not a great logo - stripped of the sweet effects, it's a 'W' in a circle. Can't use that on a letterhead, well not without spending more money for your stationary, tshirt, whatever.

didn't like the fonts in platinumpimps

Neither did I. First glance it looks to be Laser for the "WD" a Franklin Gothic, Nimbus, or New house for "Webmaster", and a Humanist 531 or FF Signa Condensed Italic for "Directory". All slightly tweaked.

I also like really liked mastamindz. I actually thought he had the contest.
