What makes you NOT want to send your traffic to a affiliate program?

What makes you NOT want to send your traffic to a affiliate program? This can be anything, such as incompetent sale staff, bad behavior from owner, ugly tours, etc. Lets see how many different reasons there are.

Professionalism is a key factor. I could hate someone at that company on a personal level but if the company as a whole acts professionally, I'll work with them.

I also need to meet the owner(s) or someone above sales to feel comfortable sending a signficant volume of joins.

Good point.

A professional Setup is a good start, when the rest fits and they passed the first tests I consider doing a real deal.

Otherwise I'd give semi-professional programs a second chance when they work on the things that they lack and I have the feeling they will convert good.

Longterm biz relationships is where it's at.

Take care,

Wise words !! Do you run your own paysites ?

I think it would take a long time to list them all, I'll list a few (Most apply to revshare programs)
  • Programs with a bad reputation for being cheats and scammers, Jeff owner of PerfectionGirls comes to mind
  • Not getting paided on exit traffic
  • Not getting credit for upsells
  • Clear tours are a must, I hate traffic leaks
  • Bad webmaster support

I could list a shitload more but I'm too busy at the moment

In general I usually just use revshare programs but what I do look for is a program where you can see that their intention is there to make the webmaster good money as well as for themselves.

There are far too much programs out there where the owners 'claim' to be doing everything they can to make you more money with better ratios and higher rebills but then you check out their program and they have hidden cross sales, upsells you don't get credit for and basically just as many ways they can think of to make money for themselves and don't have a fair 50/50 revshare program which is what reshare is supposed to be about !!

For me, it's the hosted galleries. If I sign up to a sponsor and log in and see horrible galleries, I won't go any further than that, I'll just leave and won't come back.

many pop-ups on sites that i am promoting.

and i am still looking for program that is paying for traffic that you send to site> by unique hits, per hit $0.005 and plus per sign-up.
some combination like this. per hit + per sign-up. per hit only small ammout, but something. i would love sponsor with this program.

Crappy stats.

More detail is always better, but the irreducible minimum for stats to be "good" is that they have to account for all the clicks I send.

I want my stats to show all the hits I send and all the referrer info for all my hits. That way I can tell which of my links are productive, and which ones need to be tuned or removed.

Only about 20% of affiliate programs seem to do this. Before I'll send any traffic to the other 80%, I need a *damned* good reason.

Nah...I'm sending qualified targeted traffic from a paysite.....and I'm very picky about where I'll send my members and surfers. Most make it well before 1000, but if they don't, I figure they are shaving or I just can't convert that site.

Mine converts well under so no reason the programs I run shouldn't do the same

It's worked for me so far

IMHO not saying much if it converts within the first 1k .

More interesting is if it keeps converting at the same ratio after 500k (half-day test).

If a program keeps the same ratio after some volume sent you can make a descision.

Senseless if it makes sales within the first 1000 and no sales within the next 20k .

Just my

Take care,

This is absolutely right. If a sponsor shaves hits either by hiding it with 2nd page hits or has buggy tracking software installed then they are shady.

That's all that matters to me. I try everything once. I've signed up for probably close to 300 sponsors over the last 5 years. I stick with the ones that convert and ignore the drama and bs 100%.

It works for me.

I don't care who runs it, or what they say on a board.

I dont like sponsors that pop a shitload of consoles to OTHER programs (I dont get paid off that) on ENTRANCE

I dont like sponsors that have FREE e-mail boxes on the tours (thanks dick, makes that $40 sale much easier)

But, I reserve the right to use anyone who can convert well despite any "rule" of mine they may have "broken", because money talks and bullshit walks.

Bad behavior from owner.

Cookie cutter sites.

Chain of aggressive popups.

Popunder/blur console on the first page.

Bad conversions.

incompetent sale staff
bad behavior from owner
ugly tours
ugly reps who think they are hot shit

Most importantly.. stability... if I for one second fear that I may have to change links in the next year, I won't use them. Nothing annoys me worse than having to change links when a program's new "version" comes out.

Minor quibble: when sending a check, include a paystub that
tells: company writing the check, the company's program name, date, amount, recipient name, and recipient account number.

And don't include any indestructible glossy color porn ads with the check. In fact don't include any porn with checks, but if you must include it, at least make it shreddable.

^sounds like me

The first thing that will stop me from promoting a sponsor is consoles I don't get credit for. If you make a sale from my traffic and feel you owe me nothing, you are someone I don't want to do business with.

2nd is poor promo content. I usually see a sponsor's page several times before I actually sign up and often I'll see the same 2 single model zip sets or a few hosted galleries to promote a site that have been up the better part of a year.

What will cause me to stop promoting a sponsor besides non-converting is if they never update promo content or if stats are suspicious.

If the guy running the program acts like a fuckwit, then his program is run by a fuckwit..... which means he has a program only a fuckwit would promote.

* If they're slow to answer e-mails.
* If they don't offer much in terms of promo tools.
* If their sites mislead the surfer .. or offer a crappy members area.
* If I try to get in touch with them and they act like they can't be bothered to talk to me or have me promote them.. I mean if they don't care about their affiliates then why would I want to be one?

Any company that has account managers or marketting reps or whatever the fuck they want to call it.. I dont need to be hassled and I dont need to hear how you think I can make more money off my traffic when you sit and make 6 dollars an hour. I especially hate the companies that have more then 2 or 3 of these guys.

I met one of the most ignorant reps in vegas, He was walking around in a suit and was about 5 feet tall, kept interupting everyone and would mention about his sites, I would of liked to knock him on his ass, we pulled all links to this program when we returned.
