Yes, Xbiz is one of the biggest adult webmaster resources site around. Why do you think there are over 15/20 threads today ?

Xbiz has over 5.000 visits from Adult Webmasters daily.

Everyone who run a decent program, content site or what ever has a link on there.

I would safely assume that if it were actually being hacked, that the hosting company would have already unlocked the server, or provided a new server with everything restored on it from the backup system.

The message has everyone having to come back at a certain dated and time for the next message....kinda like an event setup...get everyone on all of the boards to talk about it....comment about it, link to the site...which is normally a no no from other boards....get tons of traffic and buzz about it, and give a message to let everyone know when to come back.

They could not have bought advertising on all of the sites to give them this much pr.

Don't you think, if your site was hacked, you would have at least your own message up on the server by now telling everyone in an open letter, and/or also your advertisers that you are working on the problem, and that you will be back up soon, etc.

Don't you think that at least the xbiz people, gigacash people, and/or helmy people would be on the boards to keep rumors under control, or at least make one public statement.

I think Brandon is right in his assessment. I think it is a PR stunt...not saying it is a bad idea and similar things have been done by national companies in the past to draw mass attention to them. As a consumer I would feel duped. As a webmaster, I am not sure I would like to know that it was just a big pr gimmick to draw back attention to what was once a good resource site back in it's day, trying to get people back again.

Either way it sucks. lol.

You guys are more pathetic than a bunch of schoolkids.
If this is a PR stunt then what exactly is so bad about it?
I think it's a pretty good one.

Funny to see that most negative posts come from former xbiz mods.

I know she moved to the Netherlands this past year for possibly you, and it looks like you are both partners in:

I know just as much as everyone else right now. I get the same page as everyone else. I am not a spokesperson for XBiz, I am the board hostess. I am hoping things will be back as soon as possible. This is Sunday you know.

For those that don't know me, I'm one of the more active mods at XBiz, if you've had your Spam deleted, it was probably me that did it!!!
I haven't heard anything about today, but has anybody thought that this is sunday, the sun is out, and maybe they have lives and just haven't heard about the problem yet, last time the board was down, it took most of a day to fix the problem !
When I hear something, I'll share it

Not true, there are 3 count them 3 people from xbiz online right now.

This is a stunt, no doubt about it. Desperate times form desperate measures.

All this does is create hype in which people will keep refreshing the board to see when it comes up and hopfully end up with more traffic and free PR. What better way to plug another board on a board then to make it appear hacked and then drop GFY and oprano in the hacking tag message lol.

Makes a lot of sence . I don't see why they don't have a backup server

PR stunt my ass. You guys been abducted by aliens?

Locking customers away from information they want/need isn't
exactly good PR. The server was stressed quite a bit before this
page appeared. If there is a schedule for next message that just
means they have a script running proving that they still own the
box until someone finds the backdoor, the log killers etc and is
able to close the hole. Just because xBiz is a big site doesn't
mean they have the ability to instantly switch to another server.

For those disgruntled xBiz moderators.... Guys... We don't care if
you don't like xBiz. Because they have an awesome site, with
awesome newsletters, awesome articles, and awesome forums.
We just don't care if you feel hard done by.

Think for a second on how this reflects on xBiz and their hosting
partners + sponsors and you'll quickly see there is no reason to
do any PR stunt that is so detrimental to business.
