What makes you look up to somebody?

Every day I see people that I have never even met who show their support me for. I have seen the same things involving MANY other people as well. What is it that makes you look up to these people?

More importantly...Who do many of you have your lips planted so firmly on our asses?

I just don't get it.

You think you know me? I can count the number of GFY members who have been to my house on one hand and still have enough fingers left to flip you off and hitch a ride on the freeway.

Don't get me wrong...I appreciate the support but exactly what is it that you think you are supporting?

People always look up to others who are more successfull than them. If for anything else, a chance to find out the secret to that success and copy it.

If I like how they made it and want to achieve their level of success.
Something I hope never to be and don't look up too are minions... people who work for other people etc... I want to work for myself ALWAYS and achieve it on my own.

I dont look up to anyone, I do respect certain people. And that mostly comes down to things like vision, creativity and inteligence.

Looking up is for the smaller people, I want to learn but looking up sound like you feel smaller or less then somebody else

If no one ever gave a shit about anyone...

We all wouldnt be where we are today.

No one knows why they find an appreciation for someone but they just do.
Influences can be money, respect, honesty but above all an agreement in perspective views is a popular initiator.

The bottom line in any kinda relationship is the one that has somthing the other may want or somthing they believe they can learn from.
To make it come together both parties must each have somthing both individuals want from one another.

So Aaron...

I do not know your ass hardly at all however...
You have done things I admire, you have done things I wish I could.

Your not a super hero but none the less your someone I think I can learn somthing from and already have

So there.

Someone who runs their business ethically while remaining profitable and preference for those who are willing to share their knowledge or their areas of expertise. For example, KRL. He's been successful, and shares his experiences and expertise with the people on GFY. Makes me look up to him.

Honest answer Aaron..I ask myself this almost daily.

I see people who have never posted before jumping in on threads supporting one gfy member over another and wondering who the hell they are.

I think it serves 2 purposes...

1 to kiss yours or someone else's ass

2 to make it look like they are part of the "in" crowd.

edited to add: and I'm sure there are some people who genuinely admire you and others.

You have made your place in this biz and are successful so that has something to do with it.

Honest answer, I don't look up to anyone that I can think of. I do have much respect and appreciation for hardworking intelligent people who take care of business instead of complaining about how everything sucks and how unfair life is. So what if it was easier 5 years ago, if you are smart you'll take advantage of what you have today. If your shit don't work fix it.

Some people can be silly, but it was a good question. Lots of perspectives out there. Don't be discouraged by some having fun. A lot of people don't like to discuss serious issues besides what they're doing in an hour or what was funny on television. I know a lot of people that don't want to talk about what you're thinking about or how you feel that day. It doesn't make them uncaring or unsupportive, they just don't want to discuss it. ;-)

I've always looked up to LegendaryLars, for years he's taken the time to talk with me at length about ideas or new innovative ways to make money. He's earned my respect hundreds of times over and would be hard pressed to lose it.

He's the most prominent example of people I look up to, it's generally extremely well earned.

In all honesty that's a tough question. I don't know if there really is anyone I truly, truly look up to in this biz. Lots of people have accomplished a lot in this biz and I have respect for what they've done. But to say I actually "look up to someone" is almost like saying you think they are better than you. Not to sound overly cocky and full of himself, but I really don't think anyone is better than me. What I mean by that is I feel I'm EQUAL to anyone else and those that have accomplished more just had a different opportunity (timing etc.).

How about this. The person I have by far the MOST resepct for in this business is my buddy RichC from Maxcash. He's taught me all I know about Traffic and I appreciate all he's shared with me. But most importantly I respect the fact that I've seen him come up with KICK ASS marketing, sales techniques right out of his ass.

But he's friend so you don't exactly "look up' to your friends. You have respect for them and in this case I have a LOT of respect for him.

Anyways...that's my long winded post, lol

There are regular posters here who have, over time, proven themselves to be sensible and intelligent over various topics and issues. If I come off like I support them in certain threads it is usually because I have a measure of respect for them, I can identify with the hard work they have put into their business, and/or I feel a certain bond of friendliness or comeradery even though I've never met them in person.

I give what I get.

If a person comes at me like an arrogant prick, I deal with them accordingly. Period. If they deal me straight and don't come off like a mouthy dipshit they get my friendlier side. I tend to identify more with people of the same line of thinking as that..... like yourself. Straight fucking shooter, for the most part reasonable yet pulls no punches.

Not much room for asskissing with that sort of gameplan.

I really considered my first friend in this industry was shemp.I look up to because how he is with his buisness and how warm hearted he is and truley the sweetest guy i have met to date.

Aaron, you know I speak my mind.. I look up to you because I am still very new in this industry and you have helped me out figuring which path is best for me to take. I can count on my fingers people who have given me some great insight and pointed me in the right direction since I have started. I look to you more as a friend than a biz contact to be honest. Cant say how many times i have always appreciated your help..

So am I kissing ass?? no im just saying how i feel.. I can say the same about some others here as well. even ones that have not given me direct help they have supported me with my ventures.. I can honestly say i have made some close friends since i have started and those whom i respect and support with their ventures..

I guess for me it's about who earns my respect and who looses it...

I usually will support people that I believe would do the same towards me... While I would probably help a bunch of people if they need my help, I will not give away so freely my trust or more restricted info to people I don't know personally for years...

So if you see me support someone, it's either because he's earned my respect , or because I've known the people for a while, or have done good business with them.

But I do agree there's a lot of people giving support to people they've never met, never talked to or never contacted... I guess that's life heh

I don't have my lips attached to anybody?s ass.

I look up to people for courage, honesty, generosity, selflessness and success without stepping on people along the way.

For me, respect is earned, not dished out.

Not to sound overly cocky and full of himself, but I really don't think anyone is better than me. What I mean by that is I feel I'm EQUAL to anyone else and those that have accomplished more just had a different opportunity (timing etc.).

No matter how you word the point of this thread....In now way do I feel that by looking up to somebody that you are admitting that they are better than you.

When I was 16, the uncle of a friend of mine told me the following:

"Always remember that nobody is better than you."

Good points.

So I guess then it really comes down to that I have a lot of respect for lots of people in this biz. Of course you're going to have respect for the top program owners making millions. But that's a superficial respect. If you don't know the person then you can just repect the fact they've accomplished a lot.

But those that I do know personaly and have worked with and have proven to be honest, ethical business people, they I have a great respect for.

Oh, this has nothing to do with money either.

I respect those that have been down and out, yet turn their life around for the better without being a bitter bitch. Too much bitterness these days.
