Granted, there is some photography going on out there that could look a lot better with a few basic techniques. I agree with you. But even the extremely amateur photos have value as far as niche markets go.

For example: You would agree that most papparazzi carry fairly expensive camera equipment with high-powered zoom len's and built-in filters etc...... yet why are 99% of celeb photos of such shitty quality?? There must be a demand somewhere for it, and the amateur and voyeur market is no different.... all of them come with real demand.

It is the fucking idiots that sit there and criticize a model as if their own shit doesn't stink that gets me laughing.... Someone needs to tell them that it's not about what THEY like, it is about what the millions of surfers out there like. The threads where everyone gives their opinion are actually a perfect example of how surfers react. Ask if a chick is hot and you get everything from "she is a perfect babe' to "I wouldn't touch her". Some will think she has a perfect smile and some will think her mouth is too big.

So sometimes it really pays to pick content by the quality of the photography and not exactly how much the girl appeals to you. I can't tell you how many times I have made a gallery of a girl who I find marginal and not very appealing and she ended up being one of the ones that made the most sales.

Surfers are diverse and the content should be also.

I disagree somewhat. I think the webmaster should be 'into' what he or she is marketing. It gives them an edge that way, as they know better how to push their product, and what their members will want and/or expect.

For example, I've seen a stocking fetish website run by someone who is not 'into' stockings at all. Compared to a site run by a real stocking lover, it is jumbled and off-topic in many areas, and as aresult doesn't really appeal to its target audience.

That said, I agree about the closed minded folks here posting 'ick too many freckles' or "barf, her boobs are too small'.

If it's just down to the amount of content on the site then the site has to be enormous to compete and inside the site it has to be organised.

Our likes and desires run in a stream with in a niche, paysites should cater for that single stream with different photographers interpretations. For instance a teen paysite with Aarons, Mutts and our content would be work because of the similarity between our interpretation of the teen niche.

So if you do not base the sites content on "what turns you on" what do you base it on? Without a lot of knowledge on a niche/style, the risk is run of a site trying to appeal to all and ending up appealing to no one. There are millions of surfers out there looking for porn, going for 0.5% is the safer bet.

You are speaking from the perspective of the paysite owner. I am speaking from the perspective of the free site owner who is trying to sell memberships to various paysites. THAT is the difference. Of course a paysite owner needs to be in touch with what his particulaar members want. Notice I said "surfers" in my post, not members. Members have already paid, they are proven and have already made their tastes known. Surfers on the other hand are still looking, it is best to put aside what *you* prefer and offer up content that appeals to the tastes of others.

See above reply. My mistake, I should have clarified what my focus was a bit better. Of course a pay site owner has to keep true to their chosen niche if they run a niche site..... that's a given. But even within that niche there is usually room for diversity and diverse content and models. Take the tranny niche for example..... Inside that niche there is still amateur content and professional "high-gloss" content. There are very convincing high-end trannies and there are very gross-looking amatuer lady-boys.

Webmasters simply need to stop thinking only about what *they* like, stop tossing out the shitty negative comments and the infantile puke smilies on content threads and start thinking about what the fucking surfers want. That is the entire point here.

Of course you aren't wrong: there are likely millions of surfers who get an instant hard-on from content that does nothing for me. But how does that knowledge help me?

If I go to the majority of content providers and buy the latest sets or choose some at random, what kind of site am I likely to put together? It would be one which generates flickers of interest in lots of visitors, but probably not generate a strong enough interest in any to persuade them to buy.

I have two choices: go with my personal taste or try to get inside someone else's head and look at the content through their eyes. Either way I'm still making judgements with which many surfers won't agree.

The best I can do is select content I believe is right for a decent percentage and try to send the rest to something more likely to suit them. And precisely because, as you say, there are so many different people out there, even if my choices seemed totally off the wall to many, I could still make money.

As to commenting on content threads: shouldn't anyone who posts on a board, regardless of subject, expect knocks as well as praise? And if your reasoning is valid for negative comments, doesn't the same reason make positive comments valueless too?

Well, that goes without saying really, and gets us into the area of webmaster ability and promotional skills. The focus here is really the piss-poor attitudes of some, and the way they criticize models as if their personal tastes should carry some sort of god-given weight over the tastes of thousands of surfers.

Sorry I was thinking along the wrong lines.

For freesite owners I suppose a good mix is preferable, so long as it's not too diverse. For the webmaster driving traffic to a site, I would imagine so long as the TGP page content bears some resemblance to where the surfer is pushed it would work better.

Though within a niche like Trannies with a limited supply of content available I would think most things work.

Going back to your original point, one effect of making a judgement is that, realize it or not, you are also choosing your market. And more of us are likely to be selling to surfers who could be described as "brainless dumbasses" than to people who understand the content business.

To that extent and bearing in mind the character of this board, it isn't totally impossible that those irritating smilies are a more telling reaction than the analysis of fellow professionals

Ask if a chick is hot and you get everything from "she is a perfect babe' to "I wouldn't touch her". Some will think she has a perfect smile and some will think her mouth is too big. So sometimes it really pays to pick content by the quality of the photography and not exactly how much the girl appeals to you. I can't tell you how many times I have made a gallery of a girl who I find marginal and not very appealing and she ended up being one of the ones that made the most sales. Surfers are diverse and the content should be also.

However, given the name of this forum and no time element in posting a pic, why wouldn?t a photographer take enough time to display the model looking their best in a post ?would you hit it.? Everyday I see really cute girls on this forum getting made fun of. Most of the time it is because the photographer doesn?t understand the audience here or knows how to market the model. JMO

But most of us, for better or worse, are guided by our own tastes and opinions. Of course you aren't wrong: there are likely millions of surfers who get an instant hard-on from content that does nothing for me. But how does that knowledge help me? If I go to the majority of content providers and buy the latest sets or choose some at random, what kind of site am I likely to put together? It would be one which generates flickers of interest in lots of visitors, but probably not generate a strong enough interest in any to persuade them to buy. I have two choices: go with my personal taste or try to get inside someone else's head and look at the content through their eyes. Either way I'm still making judgements with which many surfers won't agree. The best I can do is select content I believe is right for a decent percentage and try to send the rest to something more likely to suit them. And precisely because, as you say, there are so many different people out there, even if my choices seemed totally off the wall to many, I could still make money. As to commenting on content threads: shouldn't anyone who posts on a board, regardless of subject, expect knocks as well as praise? And if your reasoning is valid for negative comments, doesn't the same reason make positive comments valueless too?
