Anyone ever had baby chics or ducks?
I am being serious.
I don't own a farm or anything but someone was selling them 2.00 each for chick's and 3 for 5.00 baby ducks. Hard to raise? |

Easy to raise OUTSIDE. However, they'll never be "friendly" if they are already skiddish of people. The ducks I used to have were awesome pets but they never knew a life without humans from the second they hatched.

There's no animal on earth as dirty and disgusting as a bird.
There's no bird on earth as dirty and disgusting as the duck. I hatched some in High School for a project. Worst project idea ever. We even had a pond in our back yard with a pen setup for them. Still a nightmare. In the end they all got picked off by some animal in the area. The thought of their chirping sends shivers up my spine. |

I had a baby duck when I was little. He lived in a large aquarium for a while and when he got to big we had to set him free. But he was very easy to raise. He loved splashing in the sink.
I had a baby chick once but it died. They're pretty hard to raise without special equpiment. |

I got a baby duck for Easter once, but I lived on a lake so it was okay. I think it's unfair if you do not . They are not a domesticated animal. And if you keep it in a cage in your back yard that is mean and if you set it free after it has become dependant on you that is mean to.
Anyway, I loved the duck, named him Beeper and he followed me everywhere even when I went swimming. I made him a huge cage with one of those kiddie swimming pools dug into the ground, when he was a baby. The cage had a little box with tons of feathers in it for him to stay warm at night. I couldn't leave him in the house at night because they poo everywhere and if he was in a cage in my room at night he would peep all night because he wanted to be with me. They are a lot of responsiblity. They are cute though, but they do grow up and you have to think of what they need not what you want. When he got older he started taking to the other ducks in the lake and he left with them. It was really cool!!!
