And I'm sure there will be 50 more in the coming year. :thumbsup

The question is whether up and coming companies are learning from these mistakes. :Graucho

They only got me for a little bit over $100 but I was a newbie back then and $100 was a lot of money to me.

But from all the time I've spent with webmaster programs in my years of work, that one defintely left the most sour taste in my mouth. This is specifically because I remember starting a thread or two about them years ago and a I got a lot of responses saying that TrafficInc was run by some good people over at netpond and that they could be trusted . I heard that again and again. And then I got fucked. Well fuck the people who ran TrafficInc

They were also very successfull even if they didnt do some shady things to inflate their sales even more.

Xpics has always paid me. (at least what their statistics showed they owed me :) )

It was just too good to be true, I think they paid like 20 cent per click.

Still I started sending traffic like the other thousand people they scammed.

We are peeking all the time to U.S.A. and compare our partner program(s) with others(only a handful of our webmasters are working on the U.S. market).

We are located in Europe/Germany and sure, markets are different but we came to the conclusion that if you pay your webmaster 40 bucks for a free trial you must cheat or have a lot of money for wasting - here and there.

imho there is so much crap out there that will feed this thread the next years...

I think today the biggest flop here in Germany is the dialer.

It is not dead, but almost.

I had over $500 in their stats, and weeks later I got a check for another account I had with them for around $40!
I still have it scanned somewhere.

Jer 03-03-2004 07:40 AM

I got a few checks from that "Netpond Clicks" program, but missed a few too.

would you like to venture a guess at how useless the list would be?

it's over 3 years old.

not to mention spamming webmasters would only serve to piss us off and not join whatever you spam.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I for 1 change personal email addys yearly just to get rid of the spam and start fresh. Think of how many regular surfers do the same.

My vote is for Xpics.

I wouldn't call Seth a rise and fall. Seth was scum from the start. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still in the adult business scamming people/customers from what ever couuntry he lives in now.

Exactly right.

I put them on my network blacklist back then, and it wasn't long until I got an email from Anthony from netpond saying that although he and netpond were not directly affiliated with trafficinc, he would look into getting me my money from them.

... never heard a word back from him again.

The traffic inc program died very quickly once most of us realized we were being fucked, but they deigned to leave their site up, obviously to suck in more newbies.

I would say they were a major flop in one aspect, but they probably made some serious bank on their scam before it finally died. Fuckers. I think they were out of vancouver, and if any of you fuckers are here, I have a hail and hearty "FUCK YOU" for ya.

psyko514 03-03-2004 04:17 PM

what was their scam?

As a recent example - how about AdStats and their Paris Hilton fuckup. I know of serveral webmasters (and not very nice ones) that feel they are rightfully owed a lot of $$$.

Joel, back when i was at FCI, I had all of your hard drives sitting 5 feet from my desk for about a week before kathi shipped em out to you... let me tell you how much fucking restraint it took not to borrow them for a night!!!

Hopefully I won't get into trouble for this, but as a reference you can check out for a thread I specifically made late last year on this topic and in which Anthony responded:

http://bbs.porncity.net/showthread.p...threadid=62041 My apologies for linking another board.

~Ray 03-05-2004 12:41 PM

I'm still waiting on my adstats wire... so until they definately screw us all over, I can't put them on the list. It's been 2 months since the last bank wire... time is running out I'm afraid.

Zprogramz 03-08-2004 11:09 PM

Ibill - and they are still fucking webmasters
