Haiti, are we about to get in deeper now?

According to some late news they're getting ready to fight and siege the capitol now and it looks like we might be about to get into this one a little deeper. They're talking about more marines now possibly. That place is just fucked up, looks like we did a great job solving things the first time we were there.

There was a journalist live on the Danish news saying that Aristide had given orders to the gangs supporting him to kill foreigners in the country so the international society had to step in and save his ass.
The journalist had been out driving around with some other journalists they were stopped by a gang of young men robbed and shot at.
There were also rumors that foreign journalists had been kidnapped.

So yes I think US and/or other troops will step in

Nope... From what I have heard, we sort of want a coup. We put the asshole there, but like most of our projects from that era, it turned around to bite us. As soon as he got into office, he turned anti-American and has been ever since.

I doubt that we will do much to back his regime this time around...

Personally although a lot of people might disagree with me I think it's places exactly like this that we should have real involvement. Places where we aren't there just to rape the country of it's resources. With all the money and might we have I would like to see it used for some good without having to be paid in oil sometime.

Back in 94 I was part of the Army's first air assault from an aircraft carrier. About 2000 of us from the 10th Mountain Division took off from the USS Roosevelt in 54 helicopters and took Port Au Prince airport, then we took the seaport.

When the Haitian rebels see the US Army inbound, they run screaming, I know this from experience.

I just feel bad for the haitian civilians, they have very rough lives and the poverty there is unbelievable.

hahaha and everyone laughed when I posted we were going in. The first 50 last week were the assessment team. Now 3 Naval ships and 2200 marines are getting read to go.

I doubt it. If they go in it's probably to get rid of Aristide. Lots of rumors circulating that France and the US wanna get rid of this guy and they're the ones responsible for this coup. I mean the guy at the head of this opposition is born in the US from Lebanese parents. All of a sudden he's in Haiti demanding the removal of Aristide? Besides, it's against US law for a US citizen to oust a democratically elected president in a foreign country and yet for some reason this dude seems to be above the law. Fishy to say the least.

It's a fucked up world, we can hardly know wtf they're doing.
