scared, nervous, not making sense to myself right now

How does one make room for a baby in a place that has no room for the 2 people currently there? I have a choice, get rid of my desk or put the baby in the room with us. If we put it in the room with us, there will be no window as the master bedroom actualy has no windows. This does not feel right making a baby sleep in a room with no windows so I won't let that happen. So it's bye bye desk and spare room for me. Should I just get a laptop??? I worry that is something fries on a laptop I won;t be able to get it running in a timely fashion....

A laptop may not be a bad idea depnding on yo'ur space requirements in your house, but you still need a place to work anyway. I put my desk in my bedroom, you may want to consider doing that if you have enough room. I set it up so I can see the monitor from my bed so that it acts as my TV/TiVo/DVD Player/Stereo. Just my 2 cents

Is there any possibility to get a bigger appartment? The first six months, you could keep the baby in the room if there is sufficient circulation of air. Mind you, if one of you gets sick, you better keep away from the baby. This will buy you time to get a bigger appartment or a house.

Tell your wife/gf to enjoy having it in her tummy - it's still relatively simple while there - they eat when you eat, you're never alone - no diaper changes :-) When they're born, alot of running around, lugging things right, left and center AND the feeding and changing.....fun stuff!! All in all, it's simply the most joyous time in your life - worrisome but wonderful. God Bless and I hope she has an easy pregnancy!

Deffinately get a laptop. Maybe go with a wireless connection and just set up a network with your main system. Work on the laptop, but store everything on the box in your office. That way you never have to worry about the baby spitting up on your laptop keyboard and frying it and all your work too. Enjoy your new little one!!

And as for the sleeping in a room with no windows thing, that's not so bad.. In fact, it will probably be a blessing to mommy if you put baby nice and close to her for those late night feedings. Sometimes newborns can be hard to hear, believe it or not, especially for an exhausted new mommy.

Yeah, no windows is no biggie, you can always put them down to nap in the room with one.

alot of changes come along with a baby and atleast you are trying to prepare for them early. i'd recommend keeping the eyes peeled for a little bigger place but if you don't find one that fits your budget, buy lots of space saving shelves and baskets til you can.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragment guys and girls. It helps. I figure I should plan this all as early as possible and figure out living arangements and set them in motion before baby is even born. My gf's mom strongly suggested we find a bigger place now so we don't exhasut ourselves moving after the baby is here. She offered to buy all the things we need and cosign on a mortgage. But I'd rather buy the important and critical things like safe furniture (massive tip-able entertainment centerpieces and speakers got to go), crib, stroller etc etc than a house we really can't afford. Once I am in a better financial position and the baby is a couple years old then I'll start looking at a house. I am planning for a longer term setting (2 years min) and not just last minute.

if you saw the size of my desk you would retract that statement with an "oh shit" LMAO It needs it's own room. I may have to dismantle some shit from it to do so. However, I have been told it will never be alowed. My woman tends to hate me typing when she sleeps, and she sleeps complete oposite shifts to me most of the time. |

I think my ideal way to set this up is to dismantle the whole left wing off my desk, move desk to living room, chuck some furniture, put baby in current bedroom (small room with window) move mommy and me to big room with no window (where pc is now).

OR Dismantle desk, store it at GF's parents house. Get laptop networked wirelessly to my desktop pc that could be hiding in entertainment unit. OR Move to bigger place. hrm....... If I can get enough work consistantly I think that is what I will be doing. Much less hassle and this place is not very baby friendly anyways. Mold in washroom, our flat is up 3 flights of external stairs that NEVER get cleared off after storms (cheap landlord) and we have neighbours that complainw hen we fart sideways so imagine a crying baby, |
